Claim to Change of Residency - Essay Example

I would like to make a claim to change of residency to the student status in favor of West Virginia University from the state of Michigan. I had come with my family to Michigan, USA in 2009 where my father had recently taken up a job. I was enrolled in the local school for my education and completed my 11th standard from there. In 2010, my father was offered a better job in West Virginia and subsequently, we moved to West Virginia where I continued my studies by being admission to the University High School, Morgantown. I am presently enrolled as a freshman at West Virginia University. I wish to change my resident student status as my parents have now moved to West Virginia and would prefer me to stay with them.

We are a very close-knit family and my mother, being of delicate health, would be mentally relaxed if I could continue my education at local academic college or University. The multicultural environment of the state is also a strong motivating factor that I believe would help me and my family to acculturate more easily within mainstream society. I also believe that the University of West Virginia promotes the concept of constructive ideologies and proactive participation of the students from diverse backgrounds, in forging better understanding of evolving socio-economic and environmental dynamics. Indeed, it not only offers excellent academic programs but also huge opportunities for personal growth. Hence, a change of student residency would considerably help me to be with my family and also help me achieve a state-of-the-art education.
