Extract of sample "Improving My Future Academic Success"

My parents suggested I move to a better school where both girls and boys interact and learn which improves the confidence of a student towards the opposite sex. I have a strong Islamic background which South Hampstead High school does not emphasize; this situation has prompted the need for me to transfer to another school that upholds Islamism (Eliason & John 3).

My parents got transferred from their working stations which led to the whole family relocating; it has been strenuous for me to commute every day more than ten miles because I get to school when am exhausted. Getting out of the house very early in the morning and arriving home very late in the evening is not secure; there has been an increase in reported rape cases recently. My parents have not been comfortable because of security concerns. My academic performance as well has been affected because I am always worried about my safety to and from school (Eliason & John 5). The tuition has been increased making it difficult for my parents to raise since this is a tough economic time.

Going to a boarding school is what I have always wanted because I can have more time to study as opposed to the current situation where I spend most of my time commuting. My current school does not expose students to specialized technical training which has been my passion to be an engineer. My parents have always wanted me to acquire important technical skills in this field as considered one of the best in the job market. My parents believe in nurturing the skill at an early age (Eliason & John 7). Besides, I could not afford the tuition of a pure girl’s school since my father, who was the sole provider and the family breadwinner, passed away in 1998. Her death has impacted me a lot, both positively and negatively. I have become more mature than before and trained myself on how to handle several issues related to the opposite sex.

Transferring to a school with specialized technical training will give me a good foundation for developing my career as an engineer. I have always dreamed of working in a large engineering firm, which I believe the early acquisition of the necessary skills early will strengthen and improve my knowledge. Moving to a boarding school provides more time for reading and practicing the acquired skills. Read More
