The Internet of Things Internet of things concept by Ashton Kevin describes unique objects that have identity qualities placed together with their virtual figures presented in an internet structure. The concept emerged in 1999 when radio frequency identification became the ideal presenter of the internet of things (Giusto 397). Ideally, the concept revolves around coding human beings and all objects in a way that would facilitate unique identification using radio tags. In addition, the inventorying and cognition of these unique codes is through the application of computers and barcode readers to complete the process.

In essence, the internet of things helps in the technological capture of information that prevents data loss, an event practical in the real world (Giusto 367). However, the implementation of this concept is by human beings hence creating the risk of inefficiency that would have been unavoidable if the whole process involved computers only. This is because human beings have limited abilities in terms of accuracy, timing aspects, and attention levels. Ideally, the success of this technological advancement is visible in the transport industry where truck owners are installing sensors in their delivery trucks in order to monitor their movement (Giusto 167).

In the past, monitoring distances in driving, amount of time spent, and driving habits was an impossibility sensor sought to bridge the disparity. Moreover, truck owners completely relied on the information provided by their truck drivers, which was at times costly and inaccurate. These translated to enormous losses that the truck companies could not curb. However, the introduction of sensors for monitoring truck movement assisted in the reduction of loss levels. For instance, a truck with a sensory device has to stick to a set course where any redirection from the course would serve as a case for alarm for truck owners (Giusto 117).

The information regarding the activities of a sensory-monitored truck help in the evaluation of driver efficiency and credibility through reports filed over the internet from the sensor. In this case, the internet of things applied helps drivers to meet deadlines and avoids the ferrying of unauthorized cargo without the consent of the truck owner. Additionally, the installation of sensory devices helps in the efficient and proper consumption of fuel as the drivers use the exact amount of fuel required for the journey.

Therefore, network convergence in this case reduces losses through theft and other risks that allow truck owners with this technology to stay ahead of the business chain. This is because the system assures truck owners and their clientele efficiency in delivery hence maintaining trust between the two parties that is necessary for trading. Secondly, the medical field of business is another beneficiary of the internet of things because technological advancements have created the possibility of a surgeon performing surgery without being in there in person.

In essence, a surgeon may perform various procedures over the internet across continents by use of robots, which a surgeon on the other end directs (Giusto 51). This is helpful as the time and finances that patients may spend in physical travel to where the specialist may be are cut down by the internet. Moreover, the outcome does not fall short of the actual physical output acquired when a surgeon conducts the procedure physically as compared to virtually. However, the realization of these results is solely through quality and speedy internet connections.

In this regard, a hospital that offers this mode of providing treatments would outshine its rivals because customers may opt for this procedure rather than having to make physical trips across the world to acquire treatment. Therefore, the internet of things makes life less complex for the sectors of the economy that apply them in order to gain competitive milestones against competitors in a specified industry.
