21 Days October 24th, Today I did not feel any happiness. I found out that there were assignments I was yet to do that I knew nothing about. In addition, the lecturer chose me to give a presentation tomorrow, despite not giving me time to prepare. I also met my academic mentor today about my falling behind in class work. October 25th, 2013 I did my presentation today, and it went well. Although it was successful, I am still glad that I am done with it. However, one of my assignments was late, and the lecturer deducted 15% from my total points. In spite of my attempts to explain having to deal with my sister’s wedding, the lecturer was deaf to me. What to do? October 26th, 2013 Today started well after two of my assignments received maximum points. However, my mentor put a dampener on my spirits by telling me I was falling behind my schoolwork. At times, I think I do not need a mentor, but she helped me a lot last semester. I also reconnected with an old friend Chris on Facebook, which was fun. October 27th, 2013 Today I feel in need of inspiration, and I decide not to visit my mentor for two weeks. I attend a poetry club meeting, which was impressive, and it went some way in inspiring me. I also registered as a member of the drama club as I feel I need something to inspire me at school. Finally, Chris wanted financial help, and I feel I can trust him. October 28th, 2013 Today my friends and I went bowling, and I did well. I bowled a 150, 166, and 160. However, I was still feeling downcast, especially during class. Another of my assignments came back with a C. I revised it and resubmitted it in the hope of getting a better score. I attended my first drama club meeting and felt lost, as there was such camaraderie among the other members. October 29th, 2013 I forgot to write another assignment last night and had to do it in class today. After handing it in, I tried to write some poetry in class to lighten my spirits. On my way from class, I came across some lottery tickets, which had a jackpot of 140 million. Although, I purchased three tickets, I did not win, and neither did anyone else at that time so, I did not feel too downhearted. October 30th, 2013 My mentor called me today and asked me to see her, which I did. I was not aware I was supposed to see her once every two days. I also lent my friend some $300, which I pray is not a mistake as he sounded desperate. The poetry is not improving my spirits, and I decided to try the drama club instead. Today, I managed to make two friends there and got to know how they interact. It was fun. October 31st, 2013 Today was a very busy day with a surprise CAT test. One of my classmates was caught copying my work and deducted ten points and, while the lecturer wanted to do the same to me, I was bale to convince him otherwise. At the campus cafeteria, another of my classmates Jeff was involved in a fight, which we joined in to help. At least I was not hurt, although Jeff suffered some scratches, which I helped him clean with some methylated spirit. This was the most fun I have had in a while. November 1st, 2013 It is Friday, and I have so much to do. I checked in with my mentor and then attended class. After school, I went out with some of my classmates, including Jeff, who was trying to contend he had won the fight. Today, I also went to my father’s house for the night, which is always fun. November 2nd, 2013 Saturdays are always fun, and I went on a biking tour with my father. On the way, we encountered one of my aunts; she does not like him, which I found funny due to the way they tried to behave as if they were friends just for my sake. My father took me for lunch at an Italian restaurant we both like. After this, we went to watch a boxing match at his local gym. November 3rd, 2013 I do not remember the last time I attended church. However, my father dragged me along, and I actually enjoyed the sermon. We went to the Italian restaurant again, which was fuller than it was yesterday. Finally, it was time to go back to my mother’s house after a long weekend. November 4th, 2013 Unlike most people, I love Mondays because I have no classes on the day. I went bowling with my sister and beat her every time, probably because she is nervous about the wedding. She also took me out to lunch, after which we watched a movie at her house with some of her friends. November 5th, 2013 Saturday again and I accompanied my sister as she shopped for her wedding. We checked on her dress, and I got myself some clothes for the wedding. Later we headed for her fiancé’s house for tea. I like Martin a lot, and we all played scrabble together. November 6th, 2013 Nothing of note happened today. I woke up at midday and watched movies until five in the evening. After a dash to the grocery to get my mother’s shopping, I came back and listened to some music. I also tried to contact November 7th, 2013 Today was a good day with nothing much happening. I was called to the principal’s office after lunch, which was unsettling. However, I found that he just wanted some information about the fight Jeff was involved in. Apparently, Jeff had seriously injured the other student. I denied knowledge of any injuries and claimed I had come into the cafeteria after the fight. November 8th, 2013 The CAT results came back today, and the teacher actually deducted five points, which made me angry. This set the tone for the day as my mentor also decried my poor marks in the past CAT tests. I attended a drama club meeting and made some more friends. However, the day ended with Jeff being suspended; this was really disheartening we accompanied each other home. November 7th, 2013 Today, I applied for a job at the cafeteria after advice from my mentor yesterday. Jeff’s absence was felt in the classroom and Kate, one of my classmates, took his seat, which I was angry about as I wanted the seat myself. Poetry club met for the first time in a month, and it was a lot of fun. I read one of my poems, and it was well received. November 8th, 2013 Since I had no classes today, I went to my father’s workplace to convince him I need a new laptop. In the evening, I attended a drama club meeting where I realized one of my friends was gay. I also got a part in a satirical play about Obama-care. Finally, I visited Jeff at his home and found he had been grounded. November 9th, 2013 Today, my mentor asked me if I was involved in Jeff’s fight, which I denied. Classes went well, and I met my gay friend at the cafeteria, which made me uncomfortable around my friends. However, they did not seem to notice. Finally, I attended Biology class, where I broke some test tubes and denied responsibility. November 10th, 2013 Today, I tried my hand at the lottery again and win nothing. Classes were boring, and I feel as if I have a cold coming on. After classes, I listened to some music with my friends in Lewis’ car. Finally, I attended drama club and found everyone had mastered their lines except me. November 11th, 2013 Today I decided to discontinue my mentorship and focus solely on my studies. I was, however, caught sleeping in class and made to stand at the back. I took this time to memorize my lines for the Obama-care play. On my way home, my classmates asked me for the first time whether my drama club friend was gay. November 12th, 2013 Today was a terrible day. My sister called the house in the morning to say she was sick, and I promised to go over after school. Later on, I found that I was late with another assignment. My mentor also sent for me twice, which I ignored. Finally, I visited my sister and found she had a bad case of flu. November 13th, 2013 I woke up today with a flu, and my mother decided I should stay home. I spent the entire day watching the fifth season of Breaking Bad.
