Digital Media Platforms and Education My research was about digital media platforms and education. Global warming isone of the most heated environmental debates which have been in existence for the past fifteen to twenty years both in the scientific and political community. My research sought to determine whether human actions contribute largely to the issue or natural causes. This is because there are some shareholders who believe that the human contribution to global warming is so little and therefore insignificant while others believe it is very significant (Archer, 21).

I developed it by looking at the increases in CO2 emissions and other contributing factors. It was important to analyze this in order to come up with all the causes of global warming and a solution to the problems its causes. It has previously been understood that human actions contribute a lot to global warming. However, I found out that the extent to which human CO2 factors into the total CO2 generated by planet earth on a yearly basis is only four per cent. This was quite informative and changed my way of looking at the whole issue (Archer, 29).

This fact does not relieve humans of their responsibility towards the planet. Instead, it helps in putting into perspective the precise scope of the problem and the means by which it should be rectified. . From my research, it has been scientifically proven that it is not only CO2 levels that determine global temperature but even the sun and the world’s oceans do. The oceans seventy per cent coverage of the earth’s surface gives them a profound effect on regulating our global system’s temperature.

Scientists have also recently proven that the global temperature levels have been dictated by the world’s oceans more so than was previously recognized. This is due to a number of observations (Archer, 49). I also learnt that technology has contributed to new inventions and learning greatly. Digital media promote new technologies that enrich learning abilities and enable for better skills like in the case of music. Communication has been made easier and more interesting even in classrooms. The rise of social media platforms has enabled me and other people exchange ideas and learn from each other.

Digital media has also enabled me and my friends produce and share information that has been helpful both academically and socially. My experience during this course was great and I got to learn about different devices used and how to use them effectively. (Archer, 57). Digital media has also been proven to aid in the forms of communication used by facilitators during their lessons in the classroom. This was very interesting for me seeing how communication in the classroom has evolved from the chalk board to audio-visual forms.

I was also able to get a lot of information in the course of my study that was very helpful and informative from digital sources. (Archer, 62). Getting the information was also very easy unlike in the past where getting information and passing it on was quite difficult. I also enjoyed the concept of distance learning. I enjoyed chatting with friends and students from other areas on different issues and even helping each other out on social media. There were some disadvantages of digital media considering the fact that it is not only used for learning important things but can also be an avenue for passing negative information.

However the advantages outweigh the disadvantages and it has been seen that digital media and technology has improved the learning process greatly and made things simpler for both students and lecturers and the community as a whole (Archer,65). Before taking the class, the knowledge I had was that human factors contribute largely to global warming. These factors include air pollution by industries and vehicles, and other activities that lead to emission of polluted gases into the atmosphere. I also had the knowledge that the rising technology contributes greatly to the issue since new machines are invented every day and there is the rising need to move with technology.

Due to these, it never crossed my mind that there could be other contributing factors. I also got to learn the various forms of digital media and how to use them effectively. It was interesting going through the various ways of communication from past years to currently. There has been tremendous growth in technology and the forms of communication. I got the opportunity of experiencing how distance learning works and got a lot of information through digital media in relation to the different lessons I had.

It was great getting to communicate with students from other parts of the country and worldwide on academic matters and the different approaches we all had. My research experience was also awesome as I got to learn more staff about global warming, the factors involved and the shareholders involved. I also learnt some new things and I am now able to explain the whole issue, its contributing factors and possible solutions that might help. Digital media will be quite helpful in passing on and finding information relating to this and other issues that are of concern to the community as a whole.
