Dear I would like to extend my thanks to you for your patience and continued support during this past semester. Being a non-native English speaker, I have struggled to perform during our class. Although my situation was not ideal in any way, I somehow managed to handle all of the assignments, coursework, and other course related content that came my way, and I have you to thank for that. Even though this is an online class and most people would consider it a breeze course, I found it a bit more difficult to handle as I am more used to a classroom atmosphere.

However, the situation also played to my advantage because I was able to remind myself to relax and take advantage of the extra learning time offered by online classes. That said, I still found myself wanting and quite dissatisfied with the essays that I wrote. Not because the topics being assigned were not interesting, nor was it because I could not do the work. Rather, my dissatisfaction comes from the fact that I could not express myself better in English. It became a struggle for me to complete the papers using my second language and I am afraid that it reflected in the grades that I got for those papers.

Such was my disappointment with myself in relation to the essays written in this class that as the end of the semester approached, I found myself questioning whether I had done enough in class to merit enough points to pass the course. The more I thought about it, the more I pushed myself to perform. Did I do enough to pass the course? I guess I will know once the class grades are handed out. One of the things that I enjoyed during this class though was the research that became necessary in order to complete the assigned essay topics.

It gave me an opportunity to practice my English reading and writing skills. Even though I am merely a novice English speaker and writer, I am quite proud of the fact that I personally did my homework and improved my English language skills to the best of my abilities. It was not an easy task for me to accomplish but I knew I had to do it if I wanted to pass this course. Challenging myself has always been a key part of my success in life and my lack of English skills only became an obstacle that I set out to conquer rather than allowing it to defeat me.

Regardless of the grades that I got, I knew that I always did my best and for me, that meant that I did well on the essay assignment. I have to raise my glass to you, our professor though. Without your inspiration and encouragement, I may have already given up and dropped this course. Yet your words of wisdom helped to keep me on track and focused on what I needed to do, regardless of how long it might take me to accomplish it. Your feedback and lecture notes were the guidelines by which I managed to get through every class assignment, exam, or coursework.

I will never be able to thank you enough for your dedication to your job and your students. Even the best of textbooks would not be able to help students who are struggling without a professor standing by, always willing to patiently guide the student through the lessons. Thank you for being an inspiration to me and my classmates. With a grateful heart, (Student Name)
