This saw the world changing into a small village as people could now interact with increased ease thanks to the invention of the internet. Nowadays people can be able to connect with their friends and strangers throughout the world and exchange ideas with strangers that they have never met or with people in places, they have never imagined going. The invention of the computer and the phone technology made a great revolution in the way people communicate and all other aspects of living were affected by the consecutive developments that followed. Other notable improvements were made in weapons of mass destruction that can destroy the whole world in a blink. The inventions in science and medicine were not left behind with many inventions ranging from the highly disputed technology of test tube babies to cloning dominating the field. This work will address the inventions made and how they impact on the daily lives of people to see whether they are drawing us closer to a simple living or complicating life more. Among the issues that have risen with the developments in technology are the ethical and moral issues in some methods that are in place. Others include the environmental concerns caused by the emissions made from the industries and radioactive isotopes. Ethical Concerns Brought by the Advancement in Technology One of the hot debates that have risen is the controlling of the content that is exposed on the internet and the lack of age barrier that exposes people to some content that can negatively affect their upbringing. The se of the internet has come with uncountable benefits that include enhanced business and communication. However, with the same failing to address the concerns raised due to the content that is available online and that has facilitated moral decadence and erosion of the cultures that governed people’s living, it has become more of a worry than help. Among the issues that have been discussed include how the content that is made available can be stopped from reaching people of a certain age group that can be considered too young to be exposed to such experience. It is hardly possible to stop the young children from owning or using phones due to their increased ease of availability. This has made children dummies as they rarely take part in active participation in the society but they prefer being engrossed on their television screens or video games the whole day. This has highly affected the way they perceive things and their reasoning as they are used to living in a virtual world. The virtual world means that they rarely interact on a physical nature with the characters they are fond of in the video programs they watch and the video games they are fond of playing. These children there get spoilt and aggressive as the games available involve use of virtual firearms and increased force. The children are therefore exposed to destructive traits instead of having them subscribe to important ideologies that can help them improve on their social life. The question sets in on the kind of parents that are being created for the future. With such people to rely on to instill morals and discipline to the future generation, then the whole generation will be as good as dead. Many children that are being raised today are disrespectful to their seniors. They can hardly express themselves due to the environment where they are used to living in a virtual world and this affects how useful they become. Medical Concerns raised by the Development in Science and Technology The developments made in science and technology has arguably brought more negative impacts than the positive ones. Industrialization, which is one of the results of the developments, has been associated with many diseases that are attributed to the carcinogenic gases emitted from the industries. Cancer is one of the diseases that have been identified as the biggest killers around the globe and research has shown that the increased levels are due to the changing ways of living and the exposure to emissions that are harmful to the human race. The introduction of genetically modified food has raised concerns among the people and though scientists have argued that the food is good and healthy for human consumption, there have been alarms that the food can cause cancer and increase the number of deaths currently reported from the disease. The depletion of the Ozone layer by the gases emitted from the industries has been a great concern and the accumulation of greenhouse gases that has led to scientists anticipating the depletion of the human race due to the destruction in the environment. Currently the life expectancy in many regions of the world has reduced despite the landmark innovations in medicine. This has been facilitated by the new life styles that have been adopted by the people that make them susceptible to diseases that cause the early deaths. Among the diseases that have become notorious is diabetes that is highly associated with the lifestyle one is living cardiac complications. Obesity especially in young children is common as they are rarely exposed to living conditions that help them in living healthy lifestyles. In the past, the children used to play around and this was useful in helping them stay fit and free from such disorders. Nowadays, as indicated in the earlier discussion the children prefer watching and playing games that are not helping them in any way. This has further raised a question on the way people live and whether there is a guaranteed future for the human race. Environmental Concerns raised by the Development in Technology The environment is so important to humans in their daily living. The developments noted in technology have come with their share of concerns on the environment. First, the depletion of the Ozone layer and the formation of smog over many cities has been associated with the increased prevalence of green house cases noted in many regions in the world. The effects of the green house gases have mainly been associated with cancer as majority of them are carcinogenic. Desertification has been a new concern, as the seasons are changing and the ice melting on the poles. Scientists have raised an alarm due to the increased temperature on earth that has been a result of industrialization and the depletion of the Ozone layer. Leakages have been experienced in many regions of the world; an example is the one that happened at Cold Lake in Canada where bitumen tanks leaked and aquatic life in the lake was affected adversely. Many forests have been destroyed to pave way for developmental plans that include agriculture and industries. The rising human population has also come under scrutiny with the current world’s population approaching eight billion people. This means that as the population continues to rise, more resources and space will be needed to cater for the added population and this will lead to more destruction to the environment. Efforts to maintain a green environment have been futile as the call for industrialization especially in the developing countries is stronger. The damage caused is irreversible and man seems to be slowly designing his destiny. With the new complications and the medical concerns arising with the rising population, the destiny of humankind seems brink. All this can be attributed to the development in technology and man’s failure to heed caution as the effects of the destruction seems clear but he goes ahead to impose further destruction to the environment. One may never know what will arise tomorrow. Increased Warfare Another concern that has been noted is the advancement in the weapons used during war. With the inventing of nuclear and atomic bombs, there are worries that in case of a war erupting and the countries using their arsenal, then the world would be destroyed within a short time. To the end of World War II, United States used atomic bombs to attack Nagasaki and Hiroshima in Japan. The effect of the bombs is still be felt today as the children being born have deficiencies which were caused by mutations inflicted by the content used in the atomic bombs. That was in 1945. With sixty-nine years down the line and with new innovations coming up daily one cannot imagine the effect that would be caused by the weapons that are in store today. This raises the concern that men may be the cause to their own destruction. Conclusion The last century has witnessed new developments in entirely all aspects of people’s lives. The effects of these developments have been a great concern as man seems to be creating his own destiny and with time, he may follow the way of the dinosaurs. The reduced life expectancy reported despite the great improvements in medicine has raised the alarm and need to be addressed with amicable solutions.
