The Time Keeper Due “It was not, in the world’s design, the way it’s supposed to be” Victor, the central character in this chapter is about to be frozen to cheat death and time. He is determined to control his dying with any means possible; the same way he controlled his living. The author uses those set of words to summarize the unnatural means which Victor intended to employ (Albom 86). He wanted to control the time of his death by freezing himself to be unfrozen sometime in the future.

The quote is important to the reader as it prepares him/her for the ‘unnatural’ acts later in the novel. The author introduces the reader to Victor’s character of over controlling. He had controlled his life and he wants to control how he dies not giving nature the privilege of making that decision. The quote illustrates the character of Victor and also brings out the theme of time. He wanted to control time by freezing his time flow own using science. His controlling nature is the guiding factor to his intentions.

The plot of the novel is also demonstrated in this quote and as the reader reads further in the section selected. The act of freezing time in “the time keeper” is similar to a film “jumpers” .the two movies have the theme of time flow and travel. Even though Victor does not magically time travel, he was intending to, scientifically. He wanted to be frozen for some years until he was ready to rise again from that frozen nature.Time cannot be controlled for individual benefits. The author uses Dor as the father time to illustrate the effects of stopping time or distorting with its normal control.

The quote presents the twisted thinking of the character in the novel. This section of the novel is selected because the theme of time is clearly demonstrated.“Ethan was in her mind, the only man she had ever loved. Unfortunately he never loved him back”This quote prepares the readers of what this reading section entails. The author introduces Sarah to the reader using this quote to shift attention from Victor. This section brings out the theme of rejection (Albom 93).This reading section is about rejection and desperation.

The quote effectively summarizes this. Sarah’s love for Ethan was not reciprocated and in fact, Ethan never actually loved her. The character of Sarah and a theme of rejection are illustrated in this quote. The setting and the plot are established further in this reading selection. Rejection from people we care about is the most devastating feeling. Having nobody to talk to and share your pain sometimes tends to be suicidal. Being rejected by somebody whom you believe is your soul mate can drive anybody to act just like Sarah.

Sarah saw suicide as the only way to deal with her pain. The quote makes the reader reflect on his/her own rejections. This creates an opportunity for the reader to fully understand Sarah’s feeling at that particular instance. The author’s point of view is accurate as a rejection of that nature is suicidal. Sarah’s reacted exactly as how the majority of rejected teenagers would react. The warehouse scene when time stops. This event is significant as the author uses it to save Victor and Sarah.

This event is the peak of the novel, stopping time by Dor alters the destinies of both Victor and Sarah. The author chooses to stop time as a means of reaching the climax in his work and illustration of the themes.Dor, through his power stops time to save two lives from a certain death. The father of time is among the main characters in this novel. His power to bend or extend moments is in line with theme the main theme of the novel. He prevents the actions of Sarah and Victor thus proving continuity of the novel.

Time is complicated and manipulation of its flow can be tragic. Dor stop time and everything freezes, “no one breathed”. Dor action causes everything, to stand still because time causes movement of everything. The whole world is still, he stops time using his hour glass and ends up stopping the whole world activities.
