Insert Introduction The two people being interviewed are from North Carolina and Kenya. They have migrated into California for some reasons. Going by the interview session, it is clear that the reasons for their migration into California underscore the reasons that James Rawls offers in his argument, A Place, A People, A Dream. The Kenyan immigrant came to California because his kinsmen live in this state. As such, it was easier for him to settle in California as his kinsman would provide him with all the support necessary for his work and stay in the United States.

This still underscores Rawls’ statement since his kinsman or host opted for California for its opportunities and success. This is specifically the case since California has numerous job opportunities courtesy of technological endowment and airspace explorations, oil fields, motion pictures, real estates, citrus groves, gold and gold mining and railroads. This helped the Kenyan immigrant interviewee’s kinsman to settle in the US fast and to make meaningful income. The second interviewee further confirms Rawls’ standpoint as he is intent on entering same-sex marriage.

Unlike his former state, North Carolina which voted against same-sex marriage in May 2012, California has always recognized LGBT rights and the supposed right to same-sex marriage since 2008. This underscores Rawls’ standpoint that because of the unbridled freedom therein, California accords freedom for unconventional political persuasions and movements, personal eccentricities, fashion and fad. This is to the extent that almost everything can work in California, just as Rawls quotes Carey McWilliams as saying (Rawls, 25).
