Extract of sample "Personal Experience with Race"

The experience in America has compelled me to learn the English language as it is used in all the courses and is part of the American mainstream culture. Moreover, my racial and cultural identity has made me different from many Americans (Nguyen, 122). As a person, I have different values from many of the Americans who are my classmates. Although there has been a measure of violence and discrimination targeted towards Asian Americans, I have not experienced any extreme case of racial discrimination.

I have also had the opportunity to interact with other Asian Americans, a factor that has made me experience a home away from home. Many Asian Americans believe that hard work is essential if anyone wants to be successful. The above has proven to be a positive stereotype in my stay in the United States of America. Many people are likely to give me opportunities because they have the conviction that I will exhibit hard work and dedication. Like many other Asian Americans, I am doing my best to make my life better because the United States offers more opportunities (123). For example, I am benefiting from an international curriculum a factor that presents a brighter future for me. Despite the stereotypes associated with my race, I am grateful for the opportunity of being in the United States. Read More
