? How to be a Good Parent Shawn Stafford EH 1020, English Composition II Dr. David Auchter February 13, Introduction This research paper consists of the activities of the parents through which, they can be categorized as good parents. Through this research, it has been proved that strong collaboration between parents and children are the most essential factors for the successful development of children. A firm connection between parents and children gives confidence to children. In this way, they can take better decisions in their lives because they are mentally and physically stable. The most essential thing that the writers discussed is the behavioral changes of children. The research paper consists of the children that are in between 2 to 16 years. In this age, considerable changes occur in children because this is the age in which developments is in ongoing position. Then parents have to be conscious while behaving wrongly in front of the children because they are in learning position (Fontenelle, 2001). In this research paper, I will discuss the facts of how can anyone be a good parent. Parents are focused because many of them do not know how to treat their children for their mental and physical growth. Raising a child is a tricky exercise and arguably, one of the hardest undertakings one must go through. To be a parent is difficult because parents have many duties and responsibilities that have to be fulfilled. If parent fulfill their duties and responsibilities, children can easily tackle with all types of problems of life in a better way. There are several techniques through which parents can easily understand the children behavior and attitudes. Parents should interact with their children to know their behaviors and attitudes in a better way. Because according to physiologists when we interact with our children, we teach them behaviors (Fontenelle, 2001). Literature Review Every behavior effects on their mental and physical development. Parents have to be conscious while talking with the neighbors, friends and any other person in front of the children because children learn most of the behaviors from the parents. Parents should maintain stable behavior with the children. Too much leniency and strictness spoil the child’s mental health, and he or she cannot be a strong person in the future life. Parents should be concerned in the activities of their children so that they know the behavioral changes and the reasons of these changes. In this way, parents can easily solve the problems of children (Steinberg, 2004). Parents should know their children’s likes and dislikes, such as what sport, what television show they want to watch, who their friends are and why they hang around them. Through this strong connection, they can learn about the children. Parent should tell the children what is right and what is wrong, what is good and bad for them. Parents should set limitations so and ensure their children understand what those limitations are. Mostly young and inexperienced parents do not know the behavioral changes of the children because they are inexperienced. According to the writers, young parents need assistance for identifying these changes so that their children will become confident and self reliant in their lives. Parents should observe the children’s behavior and attitude keenly so that they can know their children's behavioral changes. In this way, they can easily know the problems that children are facing in the life. (Hawkins, 1972). Parents should have a friendly attitude with children so that they feel protective and comfortable in their parents company. In this way, whenever a child faces some problem, he or she firstly will tell their problem to their parents. In this way, they will secure crucial issues. The parents who created a comfortable environment between children and themselves will become more confident and self-reliant. (Kerr & Stattin, 2000). Selecting a child’s name is the first and most valuable gift that parents give to their children. Parents have to be conscious while selecting their name. The name of the child gives him, or her confidence to become more socialized and confident in the future. A child’s name is their identity. This identity will be used throughout his or her entire life. A good name will give confidence to children. In this way, they can easily become socialized and well adjusted in any environment. That is why parents should be more consciousness in the selection of a child’s name. Second and most important thing is unconditional love. Love is arguably the most important factor for children, as it will build upon their confidence and maturity. Parents should provide love to their children to the best of their ability. Unconditional love can assist with solving many problems. From love, children will be closer with their parents and feel more comfortable in approaching their parents with concerns and will open up to their parent with issues he or she may be having. (Young & Philpott, 2009). Parents should be more conscious while interacting with their children, neighbors and any other person, because children learn behaviors from their parents. It means behaviors of parents matter a lot for their children growth and development. Firstly if you find any problem in your children attitude, then you have to make a list of behaviors that you want to change in your children. After then parents have to focus on the reasons and after then try to solve the reason. Despite the difficulty, each parent understands that qualifying as a good parent are classified as the most fulfilling undertaking once can realize (Young & Philpott, 2009). The natural instinct that accompanies an individual newly classified as a parent helps overcome the many challenges that come together with the development. For being the good parental attitude, you have not been a lenient. Lenient parental attitude does not bring strong personalities. To be a consistent parent leads to be a good parental attitude (Kerr & Stattin, 2000). Make the schedule of the children for example in which they have to eat, sleep, play, watching television and completing their homework. In that way, children learn to be complete their tasks in time and how they can mange their routine work. From the research, it is cleared that children who use to done their works on a certain times, such as playing eating, completing homework be a better children and have a more courage to tackle with the problems of life effectively. Though there are different understandings, it is believed that generalization in coming up with the definition has occurred in the American Society (Steinberg, 2004). Parent should set rules for their children development such as children have to come home in time, completing their tasks and lunch etc. In that way, children become responsible and their performance become better as compared to other children who do not follow rules (Fontenelle, 2001). Conclusion Through this research, I have seen same behaviors between children of between 2 to 16 years old children in America. Behaviors are the most important element to judge and know to any other person. Then observation is the most important element to know the reasons of changing behaviors of children. Parents should keenly observe their children. In this way, they can easily know the reasons of these behaviors and assist their children for tackling their problems .For example, children like to eat fast food at any time. Good parents should make a diet chart of the chart so that they cannot be obese. Alcoholism is so much common in America. Parents should teach them to their children not to take alcohol, as it is badly injurious for health. Parents should prohibit their children to watch adult television programs, consequently that they can be morally strong. This is included in good parental attitude. In this way, children become more confident and in the future they do not have any feelings of regression. References Fontenelle, D. (2001).
