The employees only contribute in terms of the skills, techniques, and also their experience and abilities to help move the company towards the main objective. A diverse mix tends to portray a heterogeneous mix of people in terms of numerous aspects like age, gender, race, sexual orientation and most importantly ethnicity.

A diverse workforce involves workforce like women, different color people, physically disabled people, senior citizens and heterosexual as well as homosexual individuals as well (Robbins, 2009). It is crucial that these aspects are managed well as these can lead the company to major losses as well. A few major steps that need to be considered in managing a diverse work force include better strategic designs by the top management to handle diversity.

The diversity concerns should be related and interlinked to the other HR functions like selection, recruitment, placement, planning and also training, benefits and compensations. It is important that the management makes a conscious effort to build a diversity friendly work environment, which not only helps in better motivation but also leads to higher levels of dedication and contentment of the employees as well.
