? The role and significance of United s of America has always been dominating the entire world but within past few years this role has adapted various impartial transitions thus not only relating the importance of the foreign policy of America, in particularly for Middle East including all other countries as well. For this reason by many analysts the term of Policy makers is usually employed for the American foreign policies (Abraham F. Lowenthal). Background Knowledge: The Middle East has always been the most fascinating region for the United States and its Policies. Under hidden are the crude facts that are associated with the sole interests and benefits of United States of America. The region of Middle East holds its significance toward Americans because of its important different myths that are discussed below; The Population of Middle East is synonymous to that of Arab world, but to a limited extent as not all the countries are Arab, there are non Arabs as well in the Middle East. There are about 80% of the population that is Muslim, thus the Middle East basically comprise of the Muslim world countries. The Arab nations of Middle East are mostly rich in mineral oil. The countries like Saudi Arabia, Iraq, United Arab Emirates, Iran and Libya all are major oil producing countries. The role for war of terrorism by the Middle East; This has been in fact the greatest struggle that has been faced the members of these Middle East countries. It is not actually the war that has been imposed for these countries but in fact it is actually a problem of wrong perception-it is in fact the war against Islam rather than terrorism. There are many ways to misinterpret, mis-characterize or flatly misrepresent the various issues across the boundaries of the Middle East. The importance of Middle East towards America is not anything new to relate with the foreign policy of America. The current fluctuating situations in Middle East had widely raises the concerns of many levels for the World power of America. The turmoil in the Middle East is one of the most important subjects of concerns for America. Although this turmoil is not a new thing to relate with the changing policies of United States, but the disrupting situations due to various sorts of Military and political aspects. The various nations’s related concerns of United States along with their levels of impacts have been discussed over here which will ultimately help us to conclude some information about the changing priorities of United States towards Middle East along with their national and international reasons. US and Egypt: The current crises that have flown through the Egyptian states have been of vast importance to the United States due to its wide levels of oil related concerns with the country. The disruption of the supplies of oil due to the raised protests ultimately resulted in the raising of the prices of the oil in the world market. This also resulted in the increased threats to the US citizen survival in Egypt as well as the journalists of US. This has really created a dilemma for the US nation to be highly volatile about changing its policies and concerns. Military advantages: The termination of the Husni Mubarak Era has also turned over the benefits of US from the long standing middle-East Ally. The US had been reaping over these benefits from the last two decades, and it military forces were being fed for the annual income of $1 billion for the access to Seuz Canal. Now the situation has changed and among the various dimensions that are being predicted one is that now the Americans would have to pull their hands from the great amount that was already coming their way against Military friendship or support. It is seemingly that the Muslim Brotherhood group is going to occupy an important position in the country soon and therefore America is wondering to know that after this whether the Africans Ally will cut those hands which have fed their army for so many years. It is also unpredictable to guess any idea about the impacts for Israel as well. Military role and its uncertainty: For the period of the transition of Egypt and there lies a great deal of uncertainty for the military of Egypt that what role it is going to play towards the interests of United States. Above all it is the military that is in actually concerned with the public interests and the nation stability. Unites States role and its emerging Priority Policies towards Egypt: As after the Mubarak Era, now the environment of the region has been entirely changed, although that was a total unexpected change for the Americans which ultimately led to the removal of Mubarak and made the public aggressive about their democratic setup. For United States the major concerns for the Egypt and its public are; The Economy: The economic stability of the Egypt is of very important concern to the United States as it holds a great importance towards its oil supplies. Thus for Americans the economically stable Egypt is a priority issue. According to the present scenario some Egyptians that are about 40% live even on $2/day, and in the mean time the issue of corruption has also been raised thus posing a further more damage to the stability of the country. In this regard there are many conceptions that the US Policy makers will never work in order to support the political transit and its stability within the land because of their anti-Islamic nature. Thus if the western policy makers genuinely want to make some efforts in this regards sincerely, then they will need to put their efforts to entrust the political and social factors and also to consider the major concerns of their nation. Ignorance of the actual facts by the Western Policy makers in Egypt: The major factor that has counted for causing frustrations among the people of Egypt against Americans is the ignorance and unawareness of the actual facts of abusing the human rights that has occurred in Egypt. This has really destroyed the faith of the public, Particularly it was noticed when the secretary of state Hillary Clinton who declared to be unaware of the human rights abusing that has been done after the Mubarak Era and has been documented at both local and international levels by the organizations. This episode suggests that the western policy makers need to have a greater degree of awareness about Egyptian legitimate concerns, as well as there should be a better level of communications in order to fill out the previous gaps and to build up a future profitable relationship. Future Agenda of United States for Egypt: The future agenda of United States in the review of the post and past Mubarak Era is thought to be consisting of the following few key roles; Remaking of the relationships with Egyptians: This is an important aspect that United States needs to reconsider that building up of relationships on the basis of mutuality, cooperation and equality within the frameworks of human rights is the ultimate need of the time to develop for a better understanding and cooperation. Supportive role of Western Government: The US government should play a supportive role in post Mubarak era for the Egyptian nation. This may be in the form of aids given to Egypt tied with the human rights and tackling corruption, forgiving some previous debts, and enhancing investments in Egypt. All of these will increase the room for the growth of United States within the boundaries on Egyptian state. Enhanced direct links b/w civil organizations and United States: This has also been suggested that the United States should prefer the direct links b/w the civil society organizations and the policy makers of United States. Anti-Military Approach: Most of the analysts suggest that the Americans should now avoid the military attacks and usage to further enhance its significance around the world as this goes quite negative to the overall image of Americans. Similarly as suggested for the Egyptians now, America should get with its dialogues and direct coordination links and activities rather than pushing the ruler with a stick. US Priority for Iran-The Regime Change: Another important priority for United States in Middle East is the need and demand for the regime change in Iran. Like Libya the President Obama wants to give up a call to the Iranians for blowing up the protests and targets for the change in their regime. The popular raisings in the Middle East are breath taking and are quite significant. It has happened after decades that the situation of Middle East is rapidly turning over before our eyes. With these rapidly changing situations in the surrounding region now the attention diverts towards the Iran and its regime. Iran is a burgeoning young population and is a growing day by day. It is an amalgamation of far more advanced educational, political and social trends as compare to other local institutes. Significance of Regime change for Americans: The change of regime of Iran is the number one priority of the United States because of various hidden objectives and advantages. Everyone including the top most American allies wants to see the regime of Iran going. The America is of the point of view that this level of change in Iran could only transform the nation completely, by change in the political, socio-economic, and strategic military levels. It would be in fact portending of a new Middle East for United States. In fact it is already well clear even to Obama administration that merely the harbor futile hopes with Tehran would never work in this regard, until and unless the US led efforts at both public as well as private sector level is not operated. At the same time it is also important to consider that this regime change can be focused or pushed from the inner side of the nation, although it can be nourished and morally supported from outside but still the main theme lies within the social stress and citizens of the nation. Significant priorities in the policy of the United States under current scenario: The significant policy measures that are being made by the keen analysts of United States to force or support it for the Iran regime changes are; The US should provide its moral leadership to the young people of Iran and President Obama should make a live call to the people of Iran to stand up and fire against the local government and thus in this way there will be further more new gates of United states and Iran relationships. There is a need for putting major sanctions against Iran and thus in this way these sanctions will impact also the people of Iran, not only the regime and in such a way although the regime change will be painful but still it will later on serve the humanity and mankind. It is also important to provide a significant financial support to the opposition parties in Iran thus strengthening them against the regime directly or indirectly. Iran is different from Libya in the facts that its size and retaliatory options even with the modest of military support, such as no fly zone are advantageous for the country. In such a case when there seems that some sort of unrest is growing then even the most limited options are being use that is disrupting the regime communications as well. These measurements may not be full and final but still the United States can plan for a much better approach for the achievements of its aim and objectives. United States and Israel-Palestine Policies and Priorities: The dispute of Israel-Palestine is one of those disputes which have no other solution then just diplomacy for the United States. Even in this Diplomatic turns the United States find its close relations and affiliations are clearly vigilant for the Jewish people of Israel. When this issue is polled the majority of the Americans say that it is the Israel to be supported by the United States. According to recent polls of February 2010, The Gallup Polls, 67% of the Americans gave a favorable opinion to the Israel and only 20% thinks for the Palestine Authority. Same is the results for the past few years, there has been no change observed in the Americans attitude towards their opinion with respect to Palestine (Bromley, 1994). Obama and his policies: Since the establishment of the Obama administration, the policies have taken a slight tilt towards the support of Palestine Authority which was later on reviewed to be as a false tilt. In Israel and US relations there was a sort of mutually beneficial relationships towards each other, and the Obama administration realized that with Israel there are benefits also associated and a sort of give and take relationship existed, but in case of Palestine support there is only the scene of take away in relationship with out and advantage. With the start of the presidential campaign of Mr. Obama, he agreed to continue with the policy of the George W Bush in respect to support Israel further more in the same pattern as Bush did and it was committed also to increase the military aid to Israel by another $30 billion in the next decade. President Obama tried to manage his promise for the first two years of his reign, and he tried to completely resolve the issues b/w the two states, as a result both of the state holders come in front of each other (Kapila, 2003). In short the new American president has shifted its course and his tone changed towards the Israel-Palestine dispute. The US has played its active role to outreach the appeasement of the Palestinian Authority and also the President Obama said in Cairo that Israel should stop any more constructions. The US secretary Hill Clinton also said that halotment of construction is one of the main events; however there is no political announcement till now. There are more than 3 years from the 1980’s the new activists provided with a notion of the survival of the two nations by side by side of each, one is Jewish and another is Muslim. There has been a slow but permanent rejection of the two states for the coexistence at one place (Fawcett, 2004). Changing course of Policies: The course of the policies and priorities adapted in this regard by the US have been molded and changed slightly. These policies have resulted in causing some groups becoming more attractive and favorable towards Israel and towards the other less too. The polls also indicate that the US people also favors for the Israel against Palestinian Authority. The adapted strategies of President Obama have not entertained the US with lots of support from the people of United States. Actually the plan of Obama has been backfires in such a case. The Middle East analyst Asif Romirawsky, who was in fact the former principle of Israel and Middle East affairs at the Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia has also explained this transition of the policy diversion and dimension periodically. Future aspects of the Policy and its occurring: In future the fluctuating US strategy towards one of the above Israel-Palestine states should be full and final. America should be very much conscious about its worldwide role in this case as changing diplomacies which will alternatively make the supports dispersed (Owen, 2004). Afghanistan and US Policies: Prior to undergo a deep analysis for the commendable works done by US for the liberation of the Afghanistan from the brutal Islamic Jehadi namely Taliban for the Past few years, let us try to accumulate further aspects of the US. Intervention of the US in Afghanistan: The act of military intervention of the US forces into the Afghanistan boundaries in fact was an illegal act but in fact none of the global community opposed this intervention. The following reasons which were placed by the analysts for this are; The Taliban’s regime in Afghanistan had turned into the centre of the Islamic Jehad and so called global terrorism. It was predicted that the Saudi Arabia and Pakistan had deeply supported the attacks of 9/11 and thus the US targeted all the Jehadi groups. It was recognized by the global community that the terrorist attacks that have been conducted by the Afghani Taliban and thus crackdown is the only way to find a breakthrough. Afghanistan Situation by Today: The situation of Afghanistan today is the utmost preliminary concern, primarily for the United States and then all other associated countries. Considering these situations in the country the US government should formulate its strategies for future support and long term benefits; The re-construction of Afghanistan can be achieved to promote the democracy by the willing support from the NATO countries. To prevent the re emergence of the Taliban again in Afghanistan. Emergence of political stable organization The reconstruction and democratization. Concluding factors: The concluding factors that can be related with the priorities of the US strategies towards the Middle East are; United States Policies are building in Self induced factors. The regional options for every country with respect to all the associated benefits are considered for the priority establishment in policy making. The military intervention wherever required is used in any form for the deduction of all the associated benefits with that particular region. The strategic perspectives of the US will be made much stronger thus making it compatible to organize the diplomacies and managing them to the best extent. The regional differences are calculated more while developing the strategies for the countries. Sources: Abraham F Lowenthal.
