When workers are happy in their work, they are essentially satisfied with it. Satisfaction of workers is the most fundamental determinant of the organizational success, which in turn, benefits the whole society in numerous ways. The money earned from the working of every organization is spent in the country. This brings more money to the country and people become wealthy.

This paper makes a thorough analysis of the way satisfaction of employees benefits the society. Workers play a fundamental role in making a company succeed because they work at the grass root level. Their satisfaction or dissatisfaction has a direct impact on their performance. Satisfied workers not only fulfill their duties, but also benefit the company with their optimistic thinking and rational approach. They feel happy and work with full zeal and spirit that is an outcome of their psychological satisfaction.

This can be best understood with the help of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs theory. Abraham Maslow put forward a wonderful theory of motivation in 1954 in his book Motivation and Personality (Sorensen). Among several arguments that Maslow made in that groundbreaking book, one primary thesis was that all human beings have the same set of basic needs that they tend to fulfill in their own respective ways. In his book, Maslow wrote, “Apparently ends in themselves are far more universal than the roads taken to achieve those ends, for these roads are determined locally in the specific culture.

Human beings are more alike than one would think at first” (Maslow 6 cited in Sorensen). Maslow did not only identify the basic set of needs and categorized them, but also put them in a specific order in which they are considered important by people in general. Maslow was of the view that the needs of existence are the most basic needs that every human being needs fulfilled. The needs of security come prior to those of love, and self esteem. Maslow said that obtaining material does not mean much as long as the stomach of an individual is empty.

Maslow’s hierarchy of needs can be best illustrated with the help of the following figure: Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs (Sorensen). As reflected in the figure above, there are five types of needs every human being has. In order to make the employees show their best performance, it is imperative that managers take care of all of the lower level needs. Only after an employee’s physiological needs, security needs, love and belongingness needs, and esteem needs have been fulfilled, he/she will realize his/her inner potentials and will feel motivated to improve his/her competence in work through further training, study and practice.

Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory plays a very important role in explaining the relation between employee’s satisfaction and organizational success. Companies develop their setup through research and development. Development of skills in employees is a very important goal of many successful organizations. Every year, millions of dollars are spent on improving the skills of employees through on-job training courses in many enterprises. All of this money can go wasted if employees do not maintain a receptive attitude towards such training programs.

This is where the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs applies. When managers take care of all of the lower level needs of the workers, they become more receptive towards development programs and play a constructive role in the organization. As a result of this, companies grow in their business as well as profitability. Thus, business entrepreneurs have more money to invest in the country. As more money is invested in business, the business flourishes in the country inviting more investors from overseas, and providing the countrymen with more job opportunities.

This kills unemployment, and people acquire money through ethical means. With the abundance of employment opportunities, more and more criminals abandon the violence and feel drawn towards earning the bread through noble ways. This decreases violence in the society. The drop of violence spreads peace in the society and people are able to live a healthy, wealthy and prosperous life. From the points discussed in this paper, it can be concluded that satisfaction of workers has a direct impact on the whole society.

Satisfied workers deliver their best in organizations, which improves the business and increases its profitability. The resulting increase in money opens more employment opportunities. Their abundance declines the violence in the society and the country becomes a peaceful place to love in.
