Topic: Hitler’s Table Talk—1941 - 1944 Hitler was habitual of starting dinner with discussion on general topics. Slowly he shifts to his long speeches. Hitler carried out rehearsals before delivering the speeches to make them flawless. Hitler’s table talk is the title of certain conversations and statements made by Adolf Hitler for the period 1941 to 1944. Hitler made most of the statements during the dinner with other Nazi leaders. Table talk is record of informal conversations about the enemies, anti western statements, Hitler’s personal secrets, friends, hobbies and state secrets. So all these conversations for the period 1941-1944 were recorded at Hitler’s headquarters and were published later on in media in several languages. Hitler’s reputation in the public and media reflects his mindset about the politics and will power that he had. Hitler was considered political genius, a man with will power, decisive nature, personality and ideas to bring humankind in darkness (Cameron & Stevens 2000). For understanding Hitler, it is important to go deep in his mind and understand the main point of a discussion. It is important to know the facts from his personal words and not from the speeches and statements, he made. On night 11th-12th 1941, Hitler says, the man who considers universe with open eyes, that man has the greatest natural goodness (Cameron & Stevens 2000). He insisted that mankind must know the laws by which life in governed. On night 22nd-23rd 1941, he says, Germans are hardworking people but they get less wages as compared to their work (Cameron & Stevens 2000). Hard work enabled us to produce cheap and mass produced articles in the fields of chemistry and optical instruments to compete English markets. He also said that England and America are about to start a bloodiest war that will eliminate one of them. We should increase live stock and energy resources. Water power electricity must be adopted at fast pace to overcome energy crisis. Germany should use 100000 acres for cultivation of rubber (Cameron & Stevens 2000). In august 1941 Hitler says, Germans must see a war after every 15 years for their good (Cameron & Stevens 2000). If I sacrifice thousand or two thousand lives, that can be answered. I understand the first encounter of a woman with a man. This can be compared with a soldier’s facing the war for the first time. Germany is the only country that has no unemployment so we are not the slaves of import. In October 1941, we must keep two aims in front, one to keep the war away from our frontiers and second to hold our positions at the eastern fronts at all cost. If someone does not hold respect than he falls below the level of an animal. Hitler said that Jews are responsible for two world wars. Two million deaths of First World War and now thousands in Second World War because of Jews. Christianity has damaged the world badly by destroying the libraries of the ancient world (Cameron & Stevens 2000). Party should keep itself away from religion. Church friendship is too costly to bear. The second part of table talk consists of the period from 1st January to 5th February 1942. In January 1942, he met under secretary of the state and said that prisoners of war be used for constructing tunnels during the hostilities (Cameron & Stevens 2000). Any fool can be made in charge of them and German labour should not be wasted on such a work. He said that we have not lost war against England; Rommel can get two hundred tanks in desert to capture Malta. England knows our strength so cannot use the route of Mediterranean to reach India. President Roosevelt is a sick brain; Americans are the most stupid people in the world. They will further fall in all affairs. Freemasonry is corrupting the complete world (Cameron & Stevens 2000). Every Englishman speaks against the Churchill that he is off his head. He cannot win the war by lying and corruption. Churchill would not listen to American command asking for abandoning Far East. On 8th January 1942, I liked the delicate subjects of the bible in my childhood (Cameron & Stevens 2000). I took naughty pleasure in asking doubtful questions. Our teacher was claver in giving slippery answers. 2nd February 1942, if we have coal and steel than off course we have everything (Cameron & Stevens 2000). Coal and steel are the secret of industrial development of a country. Part 3 comprises of the table talk from 6 February to 7 September 1942. In February while talking to special guest, He says that German justice system is not mature enough (Cameron & Stevens 2000). It does not realise the danger of criminal activities. This can endanger the security of people in very less time. Hitler said that Muller was the man who taught him the art of driving. One day he told me that my car is not a car but a saucepot. The car will not last long as it is about to lose it wheels. He said that its ready for scrap heap with its driver. He said that Russians do not grow older than 60. Therefore, there is no fun in vaccinating them for different diseases. No soaps for Russians to get the dirt off. In august 1942, he said that we should organise the wheat production on the lines of Ukraine for creating strong wheat reserves (Cameron & Stevens 2000). Part 4 comprises of table talk from 13 to 14 January 1943, he said that someone should establish museums in Berlin when I am not here in country, arts master pieces, industrial and military gains, military trophies and weapons be displayed at the museums. In June 1943, Hitler stated that he had the idea of constructing the squadron of huge battleships and decided to name them after the great German heroes (Cameron & Stevens 2000). I am now very happy for not implementing that idea. One is supposed to use such weapons when held with the country. Such squadrons are of no practical usage in today’s battle environments. Japanese also have the most powerful battleships in the world but they cannot use them effectively due to danger of enemy air attacks. Part 5 comprises of table talk from 13 march to 3 November 1944, he says that I most of the times heard about not having quality film actors in our industry (Cameron & Stevens 2000). I never heard such nonsense before this. If the film actors are not available than we must search them. On 16th may 1944, he says that it is government’s responsibility to create ideal environment for research in different fields (Cameron & Stevens 2000). There should be no restriction on research by the government. Research and instructions are two separate fields and must not be mixed with each other. Each category calls for a man of different attitude and stamina. Therefore, the government in a different angel must approach each. Hitler discussed all these matters with the army generals and with government officials. Interesting thing is that, Hitler passed very few comments about the ongoing wars in his table talk. It seems that these topics were discussed for escaping the unpleasant topics. Mainly his talks revolve around disliking Christianity, praising England, settlement of German immigrants and hatred for Churchill. Hitler was much focused and to the point in his talks on different world issues, this shows his grip on the European history. He showed immense hatred for Jewish people but slowly his hatred was bit reduced with the passage of time. He posed himself a builder of autobahns, museums and capital cities. Another fact about Hitler is that he never removed his jacket even in hard summers. His favourite topics include, when I was a soldier…… When I was in Vienna….. Hitler had no interest in any kind of sports games and he never exercised. He used to walk for few minutes in a day. He always used to whistle himself in leisure times.
