1. The man’s effect on environment is not an overblown fact but a reality. Human can have impact on environment because he has the ability to interfere with the way environment works unlike other living beings. When we cut trees, pollute water and air with debris and toxins he is changing the ecosystem of the nature. We are reducing the natural habitat by clearing forests which destroy many species and the balance of nature gets distorted. The plastic, carbon emission and fossil fuel usage is creating a negative impact on environment. 2. The Columbian dam removal project has been done to exemplify the river restoration movement. This would restore the natural habitat of salmon, estuary and beaches because the nutrient rich sediments will flow downstream. It will prevent erosion and also would enhance the natural eco – system. In the case of water flow in Florida and the people can be affected by such projects. However, people need to take precedence for environment restoration because a responsible and intelligent we have the obligation to protect and preserve nature. If at all any destruction is caused to nature despite of the agent causing it we have the responsibility to take action to protect nature. 3. My estimated greenhouse gas emissions are 15 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) equivalents per year, which is below the U.S. national average. In order to limit our impact on environment we should use energy only for need basis. The lighting in the house needs to be efficient. The diet should contain less of meat products. It is essential to use less of vehicles for movement and the recycle products as much as possible. I need to use more organic food and should resort to vegetables and fruits. I need to switch to solar panels for fuel needs. 4. One of the invasive species which is threatening is zebra mussels. It is a problem both in Unites States and Europe. Zebra mussel is a small fresh water mussel and was native to Southern. Russia. This species was introduced to many regions in West in unknown incidents. They are small in size and as they disrupt the ecosystem they are tagged as an Invasive species. They also damage harbor and water transportation and create problems in water treatments and power plants as they cling to the underwater pipes. They also use more food source which effect the fish population hence is an invasive species. 5. GMO which means genetically modified organisms is anew controversy topic these days. These organisms are artificially created and have a structure which is opposed to nature. Anything man made has harmful consequences as it can damage the ecosystem. The challenges can be to adjusting to the new changes in the habitat due to destruction of bees and butterflies, cross – pollination contamination and difficulty among farmers to harvest and fighting the super bugs. The GMO can also alter the DNA structure of plants and it can go against the nature’s way of reproduction. 6. My ecology food print is 182.19. My ecology foot print is high and it is said that if everyone lived by way then we would need 4.2 earths. So I need to take the following steps to reduce my footprint. I need to use more o f bike, public transport, or walk when I travel short distances. I should avoid my car to sit idle if I am waiting more than 30 seconds. I need to check my car for filter if I use car. I need to use more of organic food and recycle products as much as possible. I need to make my home weather proof. I have to reduce my footprint by following the above actions. 7. Keystone species are the one which are essential for the maintenance of the ecosystem. Some of the keystone species are beavers, American alligators, bees, elephants, gopher tortoise, grizzly bear, humming bird, corals, jaguars, mangrove, prairie dogs and pacific salmon. These alligator makes burrows which can use by other species, humming bird and bees helps in pollinating. Coral reef is a habitat for other species and beavers create dam and other species flourish in it. Grizzle bears keep down other species like elk and moose. Mangrove is a natural habitat for many living beings and also holds soil to the river ground. 8. The companies which sell weight loss products need to be more accountable. They need to hold accountable for their claim as it has a lot of impact on the health of the consumers. Many products need to satisfy the customer regarding the effectiveness of these drugs to cure obesity. This is more like cheating clients as they suggest people to exercise and diet which anyway can reduce weight. So the drugs need to be showing some effect on the fat of the body so that the clients do not consume product for no purpose. 9. This product shows that there are 5 bars in the packet and each bar contains 140 calories. These bars are very light and a single person can have it in a go. The calorie may be little high but it does not all the nutrition a person need at one time. The calorie comes from sugar and other nutrition is lacking in ones serving. A bar of this fiber one cannot satisfy the nutritional requirement of a person as a snack is considered. The person might have to meet the at least 4 bars so that he can feel satisfied and full. 10. Marasmus is a nutritional disorder where a person loses muscle tissue and body weight due to malnutrition. It is a condition caused by deficiency of all nutrition but mainly carbohydrates and protein. The person can have edema, dry skin, loose skin, around body parts like buttock and armpits. There is also a loss of adipose tissue from areas of fat deposits region like buttocks and thighs. The person can depict voracious hunger and irritability. In this case, the person can reduce 60 % of the body weight. The person can die if not treated and can face infections, dehydration and circulation disorders. 11. Stomach surgery for weight loss is highly risky as many have faced problems with health after the event. This practice has serious complication and the obese person can face problems with the intestine breaks open .The patient can regain all the weight lost and hence it can be futile. This is an unethical Practice and there is no clinical evidence as to the potentiality o this surgery. There can be many problems like metabolism issues, bowel movement obstruction, internal bleeding and medications requirement. It is ethical because it puts the health and life of the person in danger. 12. The employers have the right to test the urine of a person. The employee need not have a right to refuse urine test. The employer test urine with an intention to check the drug use status of the person. If the employee refuses urine test that means the employer is at risk. The urine test is not costing anything for a person as an employer he need to know if the character of the employee is upright. Some jobs need to have mandatory drug test like the medical professional’s job, the employees in health care sector, educational institution and Hospitality industry. 13. The person can sell an organ to a person but there are ethical concerns relating to this subject. The main ethical issue is that it can increase organ trafficking. This means sometimes organs like kidney and eye can be taken from a patient by killing or without their consent through surgery. Sometimes for money reason a person can compromise their health and donate their organs to a person. In such case, the person can endanger their lives for money. 14. In U.S the rate of diabetes 2 is rising because the country has a large population of obese people. Diabetes 2 is a condition which can be caused due to obesity, lack of exercise and sugar rich foods. The U.S population has children and adults with lack of exercise and fast food eating habit. Diabetes 2 is caused by lifestyle and environment mainly. The children of American people have diabetes because they have a history of obesity and they pass on the susceptibility of the disease to their offspring’s. 15. No . Performance enhancing drug should not be allowed in sports. These drugs are mainly of additive nature and are chemical stimulants. Such sport performance is not viable as these are steroids and can produce result which is not really based on the power and talent of the sport participant. It is same like cheating as the influence of drug is enabling the person to perform well. The side effect of these drugs is not predictable and can have adverse effect on the mind and body of the person. 16. I would like other to address the consequences of use of fossil fuels on nature in the coming years. As the fossil fuel is a reason for global warming and considering the depleting nature of fossil fuels what steps should the people take to cut down the bad impact of fossil fuel burning on environment.
