Water in Compressible Flow There are two major categories of fluids; compressible and incompressible fluids. According to Munson Bruce, 2013, incompressible fluids basically do not exhibit any variation in relation to their densities as they flow. On the other hand, he asserts that compressible fluids exhibit variations with regard to their densities as they flow. An example of compressible fluids is gases that are basically relatively compressible as compared to water, which exhibits limited characteristics of compressibility.

There are various factors that affect the compressibility of water as a fluid. To begin with, density is one of the imperative facets that affect the compressibility of water. The Density of water is also subject to various forms taken by water i.e. in the gaseous, liquid or even solid state. In some cases, this is usually referred as the phase of water (Munson, 34). Taking an analysis of a case video, it seems that the inter-molecular space between water molecules contributes in a great sense on the compressibility of water as it flows.

When water is in liquid state, the inter-molecular spaces are relatively smaller as compared to when it is in gaseous state, thus making it less compressible as compared to when it is in gaseous state. When water is frozen and takes a solid form, the inter-molecular spaces reduces thus making it less compressible as compared to when it is liquid and gaseous forms (https://www.youtube.com, n.p).
