Even though, my company aims at establishing a greater presence in Kava, the current situation in the area is not suitable for the implementation of these objectives. Due to the Island’s geographical location, the Island is in a natural disasters path constantly threatens the people, agriculture, and its infrastructure. The threats to the island include disastrous events like earthquakes, typhoons, volcanic eruptions. Not only this, Kava also faces a huge threat of terrorism from both inside and outside Island which greatly hinders the successful implementation of our business plan.

Along with the threat of natural disasters and terrorism, Kava is also suffering from epidemics like HIV and avian flu which are also major obstacles in the growth of their economy (University of Phoenix, 2007). On the other hand, about 50% of the total population on the island is under the age of 15. The population of Kava is a mix of diverse ethnics groups such as Africans, Americans, Chinese, and others that have different cultures, religion, and languages. Religions followed in the country are Buddhism, Islam, Christianity and the main languages include French, English, Spanish, and other native languages.

The main source of income for the Island is generated from its agriculture with fruits, spices, coffee, cocoa, sugar, and bananas being the main crops (University of Phoenix, 2007). Problems and Issues The decision-making process of the company will be influenced by a number of factors that are as communication gap, cultural and religious diversity, safety and security, constant threat of natural disasters, almost half of the population is under 15 years, threat of terrorism, population suffering from epidemics like HIV and avian flu and variety of languages spoken (University of Phoenix, 2007).

On the other hand, the Islands of Kava offers a number of benefits to the expansion of the pharmaceutical business. Firstly, due to the richness of the region in energy resources like natural gas and petroleum, the company can plan to establish a manufacturing plant in the region. Moreover, the availability of skilled labor is another factor that can help the organization in its expansion plans. The cultural and language diversity can also be used as an advantage by the organization. This can be done by hiring individuals from diverse backgrounds who can bring in new and innovative ideas with them.

Similarly, the Kava government and other community-based groups support and encourage new businesses in the country which will also prove advantageous to the organization in achieving the desired outcomes. One of the most significant aspect that will help us gain a competitive advantage in the market is that the business that we want to implement in Kava is a pharmaceutical company and as the region is in severe need of medical supplies, therefore, establishing the company would not only boost the region’s economy but will fulfill the medical needs of the disaster stricken area but providing the much needed access to healthcare (Weber, 2006).

As mentioned previously, the Kava government is highly supportive of new business venture in the region because the business would not only boost Kava’s economy but will also solve the unemployment issue in the region and also provision of medical supplied in
