Calories Restriction and Health in Medical Improvements Abstract Calorie restriction as a possible solution for health related problems has gained ground as more and more of the benefits of calorie restriction are uncovered. The benefits that can be gained from calorie restriction extend from reduction in the aging processes and extension of life span to calorie restriction as an adjuvant in the treatment of diseases like diabetes, heart diseases, neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease and as a solution for obesity or overweight problems.


Fasting prior to chemotherapy enhances the effect of the chemotherapeutic agent on the tumour and reduces the toxic side effects of the chemotherapeutic agent on the patient. However, before this benefit of calorie restriction could be used in human beings more studies are require to reinforce the findings of the twin benefits of calorie restriction. 1. Introduction 1.1. Calories Restriction Over the last seven decades evidence from insect and animal studies has pointed to the restriction of calorie intake resulting in increase in life span.
