The main material that was used to create the table is mahogany wood. The hard reddish-brown wood that mainly originates from the tropical tree is in high demand when it comes to the manufacture of furniture. Additionally, the beauty and texture of the tree produced sophisticated tables (Puritan, para.6). The table could measure about 70 cm by 40 cm that was an ideal size that could fit well in houses. Godwin did not hide his love for objects that were designed by Asians. He demonstrated his interest by adopting some of the drawings. Although Godwin had customized the table for his personal use, many artists became interested in his design. Consequently, they borrowed his work and started producing similar tables. The side table remains to be one of the most uniquely designed pieces of furniture. However, the current models that are being created by modern artists are not similar to those built in the 1800s. The style is slightly different from the previous ones. Additionally, the quality of the side tables being provided does not match with those that were built earlier.
