I do not agree with the authors as far as the notion that the use of female characters as less authoritative in pictures depicts male chauvinism. That, in my opinion, is just what society is. Even in the real world when photographs are taken, women are usually in the pictures’ foreground and the males in the background. Feminists are wrong on this subject given that women enjoy their position as the ‘gentle’ part of the picture.
The authors have done a lot in presenting art especially with consideration of gender as portrayed by artists. Even with this, some information presented begs to be wholly explained anew.
