Why young British Women are joining ISIS. Summary: In the recent past, a large number of young Europeans have joinedISIS. This article will evaluate the factors that have influenced these young people to join the radical group.Description Today, ISIS is one of the most notorious terrorist organizations. With a large number of followers, the group has been involved in numerous executions of people who criticize the activities of its members. One of the countries in which ISIS has been very active is Syria.

The current trend in the recruitment of terrorists in this group involves enrolling young Europeans, especially British girls. One of the reasons why young British girls opt to join this radical group is because of the hardships in their lives. Life for low-class British families is quite challenging, and as a result, girls from such families decide to join ISIS where they can earn a living for themselves and their families. Excitement is also driving young British girls into joining ISIS. Some of them want to experiment and feel the excitement that comes with being a member of a criminal gang (Einashe 2).

Another reason why these girls are joining ISIS is because of Islamist ideologies of radicalization. Most of the girls who join radical groups are members of criminal gangs and when they learn about Islamic ideologies of Jihad, they are encouraged to join ISIS. The feeling of alienation also contributes significantly to radicalization of young British girls. Since most of the young Muslims residing in Britain are immigrants, the authorities tend to victimize them. For example, they may be denied citizenship or stripped of their citizenship.

As a result, they feel isolated from the rest of the society and find solace by joining a radical group (Einashe 3). The mixing of British girls with gang members from other ethnic groups has contributed to the radicalization of these girls. Unlike the past when gangs were made of members from a single ethnic group, things have changed nowadays and there is a mixture of criminals from various races and cultures in a gang. The sense of togetherness created when these gang members interact motivates British girls to identify with the ideologies of the radical groups (Einashe 4).

Analysis Radicalization, which in the past was common among Muslims, has spread to all races and ethnic groups. This explains why there is a large number of British girls joining radical groups such as ISIS. Since many young British Muslims grow up in vulnerable environments, they have a tendency to join criminal gangs, and later on become radicalized into terrorists. The promise of a financial reward, especially in the case of suicide bombers, has encouraged many young people in Britain to become terrorists.

With the rising number of young Britons who are joining jihadist movements such as ISIS, there is a need to address the issue and come up with a permanent solution. The government should heighten surveillance in order to become aware of any possible hideouts of terrorists. Moreover, there is a need to conduct proper investigations to identify where training and radicalization of the youth is taking place. Works CitedEinashe, Ismail.
