There are probably about 75 percent of Americans that do not have any kind of health insurance because of the fact that they can not afford it. Most of the Americans that do have health insurance have it through their employer because it seems to be cheaper in the long run. Understanding health policy and health care administration and the need of these professionals to be politically savvy has become a near necessity.

The health policy affects us Americans because of the fact that if we do not have health insurance we still have to go to the doctor every once in awhile but we hold off as long as we can until it is too late. Then, we might have to go to the emergency room and they charge so much just for entering the emergency room and then they charge us to be treated and when the doctors release us we have a bill of $700.

Why is it important for health care administrators to be politically savvy It is important for health care administrators to be politically savvy because the result of a miscalculated health care policy often leads to health problems, lost productivity, unnecessary suffering, and greater cost - to individuals and their families, to health care providers, and to people who pay taxes and health premiums.

Kellogg Foundation; 1998-2002) This is the reason health care management and health care professions must become more in tune with health care policy. As a health care manager one must become more politically savvy to negotiate and gain the trust and understanding of both patients and insurance agencies and also must give credence to the continually expanding number of health care career types. 3. What are the reasons for so many new emerging health care professions There are many organizations available to assist health care professionals.

The reason many health care administrators are, in essence, required to have political savvy of some kind would be the necessity to interact with these various organizations in order to garner cooperation or assistance. "The Center for the Health Professions is to assist health care professionals, health professions schools, care delivery organizations and public policy makers respond to the challenges of educating and managing a health care workforce capable of improving the health and well being of people and their communities.
