Ideally, when the health of the public is the main issue being considered, the ultimate venues to be able to cure different diseases and ailments are the hospitals and other types of health service establishments. Moreover, the medical centers and hospitals can be considered as the main solutions and the site for an optimum health condition. The health of the public and the members of the population can be considered to be kept at best if the mission and the main purpose of the health care establishments are put into focus.  Although this is the ideal scenario, different challenges are needed to be resolved in the fulfillment of the goals to cure and maintain the good health of the population.
One of the challenges that can be related to the achievement of the goals of health care services includes the cases wherein the main cause of the ailment of the patient is contacted in the healthcare facility due to different reasons. The said diseases can be considered as acquired infections that are classified and defined as the infection and ailment that can be acquired when contacting any medical facilities (Nicolle, et al., 1996).
The said type of ailments and infections are defined as the cases of health conditions that can be obtained in cases of visiting healthcare facilities (Barlow, Smith, and Wedgwood, 2003). Also, the said infections are due to the procedures or processes that are undertaken in the medical facilities. Procedures can be a cause whether it is classified as diagnostic or invasive (Curran, 2001). When the causes of the infections that are diagnosed in the patient are determined, they can be related and be traced to the period of contact with the health care facility which is either due to the time that the patient stayed in the hospital for treatment and the undertaking of invasive procedure (May, 2000).
In the study of the diseases that can be acquired in hospitals and health care facilities, the said cases are inevitably causes of concern to patients, health professionals, the government, and the public at large. These cases can be viewed by patients as causes of pain and in some can even lead to death. The said cases can be attested by different accounts. Included in the account even is the father of the author which served as one of the main reasons for the focus on the said subject matter. In addition, to the cases, it can even be described to be a dangerous situation that can affect about 320 994 patients who acquired one or more infections in England every year and at any given time (Plowman et al., 2001).
About the important data and facts on hospital-acquired diseases, it can be considered important to work for its elimination is the fact that the cases of patients that can have the said infection are continuously increasing. Presently, the statistics showed that approximately 6 percent of the patients in a given health care facility can get infected by the said diseases that can have varying causes. These diseases can be classified to affect different parts of the body.
