With so many researches going on, it becomes extremely necessary to identify those that have credibility, merit, and above all statistics that present a holistic picture. Many of the researches carried so far have been confined to local premises and very few have been carried out on a global scale. The promises and the limitations of such studies are twofold. On the one hand, such studies limit the observer to analyze the implications of the studies from a broader perspective and thereby may ignore many of the areas relevant to this incidence. However,

It is not only that the incidences of needlestick injuries be measured and accounted for. Far from it; the main issue has been the identification of the seriousness of these injuries and the significant morbidity, mortality, labor productivity, health costs, and emotional and psychological effects it can ensue. It is important to applaud efforts undertaken by the government and the health care institutes to research, educate and prevent the issue. It is also nice to see the significant numbers of researches that are being carried out around the globe related to sharps injuries. But on the most part, what is to be noted is the need to identify the strengths and the weaknesses that these studies carry with them. Although the researches have been very good attempts, it is observed that many of these researches do display some flaws in them. Even if these flaws are minor, the problem lies in the discrepancies it can create in the statistics related to the research. It is important to understand and point out these flaws so that corrections and modifications can be carried out, and further researches are rendered devoid of them. Good researches will help in accurately defining the weaker areas of the government policies and consequently will help to improve them. they can help in targeting the areas that are deserving of attention and the progress that has been made so far in the different efforts placed in the subject under review.
