WEEK 2
1. The environment helps the researcher determine whether one's surroundings may cause harm to their health. Behavior helps to set a basis for program priorities among different health problems.

2. The first objective is to reduce the maternal mortality rate within India by 5% within 3 years and a further 40% in the next 5 years. Another objective would be to reduce infant mortality, especially through fetal death during birth. The third objective would be to totally eradicate the transmission of HIV/AIDS from the mother to the fetus. The main purpose of this program is to improve maternity care in India. The number of deaths of both mothers and babies is too high, and there is a need to reduce it. Better equipment and qualified personnel would help reduce these numbers.

3. Three ways of advertising a health fair are through posters, bulletin boards, and e-mail. Posters are printed and eye-catching notices informing the public on upcoming events. Bulletin boards are specific boards set up in institutions to inform them of upcoming events. E-mail has become the most used method of communication used in the modern world.

4. Two examples of evaluation methods are surveys and interviews. The survey is a method used to gather descriptive data from a wide range of topics. An interview, on the other hand, is a form of gathering information by asking oral questions to gain the insights and perspectives of the interviewee.

5. A focus group would be classified as a social type of diagnosis. This is because a group is a gathering of a number of people with the main agenda of socializing amongst each other.

6. It is important to conduct a Needs Assessment to decipher the possible changes in behavior and performance, as well as to decipher the benefits of any projected solutions.

7. An epidemiological diagnosis is necessary for a health program meant for corporations with individuals aged 30-60 years old because an increase in someone’s age means that they face different health problems as compared to younger people. As someone grows old their bodies become weaker and hence are more prone to disease and organ failure, especially the heart and kidneys.

8. An example of how social support can positively influence someone’s health is when an individual infected by HIV/AIDS is around his loved ones. Stigmatization has led to the premature death of AIDS victims since they do not gain support from their families and hence have no reason to further live.

9. One type of behavior I would like to change about myself is my inability to concentrate on one matter until I finish doing it. Six concepts of the Health Belief Model have perceived susceptibility, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, perceived seriousness, self-efficacy, and modifying variables. These concepts apply in my own situation since it is a clear indication that I lack belief in changing my own behavior.

10. The weight watchers website offers various types of social networks and social support opportunities. Two social networks offered are Facebook and Twitter. These two social networks allow members to share tips about dieting with other members. It also provides a support group for the members who feel like they may stop their diet due to cravings such as chocolate and cake.
