TEAM DEVELOPMENT (SLP) MODULE 2 Team Development (SLP) Module 2 Affiliation In order to support globalization and compete in this ever-increasing competitive world, organizations are more and more building and implementing diverse work teams. However, these diverse teams have to perform their tasks within the limitations of the issues which are introduced to them by the distance, as a result not for all time supporting useful coordination and collaboration, visibility, communication and mutual cooperation to take place.

In this way, the successful implementation and management of diverse teams is ensured in a different way from traditional teams. As in traditional teams people communicate with each other directly. They work at the same place. On the other hand, in diverse teams people work in different locations. However, it has become necessary as it allows organizations to have access to top personnel throughout the world (Casey & Richardson, 2006; Gould, 2006). In addition, diverse work teams can be based on a multicultural collaboration framework.

In this scenario, multicultural work team consists of organizations or groups, each team comprising members from different cultural orientations and backgrounds such as Native American Indian, Latino or white. In some cases with specific missions or goals oriented to populations with differing cultures such as Asian-American or African-American. In this scenario, the cultural differences can vary from team to team which can be related to values, ethnic heritage, traditions, history, languages, and sense of self and racial attitudes.

Though, any of these cultural attributes can turn out to be a challenge to working together. If not they turn out to be an element of the association, the cooperation and collaboration will almost certainly be challenged (Brownlee, Schultz, & Rabinowitz, 2013).Moreover, a diverse team is normally composed of team members who work from home or any other location however this is not for all time the case since diverse team associates can work in offices also. There are a number of reasons why I prefer to have a diverse team in my unit.

In this scenario, the basic reason is the reality that we live in the information age, as different to the industrial age. In view of the fact that the information travels at the speed of light, and those who have access to the most modern and fastest communication and collaboration technologies are capable to send data quickly. The capability to transmit data and information at fast speeds, combined with the power of the web, has caused the formation of "diverse teams." However, the most influential aspect of the virtual team is that it is not limited to their physical location.

Without a doubt, in order to compete in this ever-increasing competitive world, all kinds of organizations need to put together discrete knowledge resources into effective solutions that can be implemented without restrictions to physical or organizational boundaries. In this scenario, the worldwide teamwork, comprising teams of mutual dependent cross-organizational, cross-functional team associates hired from different physical location and having different nationalities that hardly ever have face-to-face meeting, are an ever more well-liked organizational infrastructure for including different skills and expertise without limitations.

In fact, in the past few years, diverse infrastructure to manage diverse teams has turned out to be more and more sophisticated, modernized and extensively accessible commercially (for instance, Quad, Microsoft Sharepoint, and IBM products) (Exforsys Inc., 2009; Malhotra & Majchrzak, 2012).Furthermore, diverse work teams are as well extremely efficient for the reason that they do not have any "off" hours. For instance, in case of a traditional business environment, where all their staff members are available at the same location, has an 8 hour-work per day.

On the other hand, in a diverse environment team members of a diverse team will have an opportunity to make use of 24 in their way. For instance, if a team member in one time zone is not working, the others would still be working. In short, diverse work teams are able to get more done in a small period of time as compared to the traditional work teams (Exforsys Inc., 2009; Pina, Martinez, & Martinez, 2008).ReferencesBrownlee, T., Schultz, J., & Rabinowitz, P.
