A social media director is responsible for the management of social media sites by tracking and monitoring the company's presence in social media including Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus, and others. He or she ensures that only valuable and engaging information is shared on social sites. He or she monitors the changing social media trends to ensure that the company stays on top of its competition.

He or she plans and manages the social media budget and directs the integration of social media tools into the company's sites (Mergel 94-95).
Clinical research manager
The clinical research manager is the head of the clinical trial program and his or her responsibilities lie within the management of trials and conducting research.

Responsibilities of a Clinical research manager

He or she bears the responsibility for designing and writing protocols, report forms for cases, and consent forms used in clinical trials. He or she approves the Ethics committee, develops recruitment strategies for the increment of patient randomization into trials, and manages clinical trials.
He or she ensures compliance with Good clinical practice (GCP) by providing training during start-ups and initiation meetings for the clinical trials. He or she is responsible for the planning and implementation of activities necessary for conducting and monitoring clinical trials.

He or she manages the finances for the trial program including the allocation of resources, preparation of reports, and planning of the budget.
He or she coordinates the monitoring of trials by selecting and managing qualified personnel. He or she keeps CVs and training materials for each protocol, and also submits documents that are necessary for initiating the study including CVs and Food and drug administration forms. He or she identifies audit procedures and ensures that only clean data is entered into the clinical database at the appropriate time (Clinical research manager).

Part 2
Human resource department
The social media director can work with the head of the human resource department in the management of staff within the company. The social media director is responsible for the identification of the company's social media staff and thus may work in the Human resource department as a recruitment manager or in the interviewing panel. The human resource department is responsible for personnel activities including staffing, development, training, rewarding, and performance evaluation in every department of the company. The social media director works with the human resource department to ensure that the panels in the social media department can deliver the company’s strategic objectives. For company consolidation, the social media director and the human resource department can come up with tactical initiatives such as acquisitions and mergers, and labor relations to ensure the achievements of the company’s portfolio.

Clinical research management
A social media director can work with a clinical research manager by coordinating online networks to facilitate and speed up clinical research work. He or she may fit in the clinical research management by ensuring that recruitment strategies for clinical trials are available. Social media networks enable the easy assembling of demographically varied clinical research instruments more quickly. Social media and online networks make clinical research work more efficient and less expensive compared to other means. The clinical research manager can as well make coordinate with social media to engage with the audience, promote his research work, and reach his patients.

Challenges faced
Challenges faced in writing this paper include finding relevant information and relating the responsibilities for each position. There is limited information about the responsibilities of a social media director. The limited information made it difficult to relate how a social media director may fit with the clinical research manager.
