This work begins by giving defining what are HIV and AIDs and further goes on to detail how they relate. The origin of the disease is discussed, with the work focusing on the organism believed to be the source and how the disease moved from the organism to the human.

Another area of interest in this work is the History of the disease that takes into account: the year it was first reported, the year it was identified as the cause of HIV, the first drug approved for treatment of the disease and the year the use of condoms was first confirmed as effective measures against HIV.

Transmission of HIV/AIDS is the other major concern and the work deals with this area by looking at the possible ways through which a person can get the disease. Closely related to transmission are the risk factors for which this works unearths the well-known situations that easily lead to HIV.

Diagnosis of HIV has also been outlined and the most common symptoms given to help discover the infections and stop the spread of the disease. Here, emphasis has been laid on the testing procedures. This work then handles matters related to treatment, prognosis, and prevention.

Lastly, the work offers assessment tools with correct answers that will help the learners asses their understanding of the topic.

As a student in the Health sciences and medicine, I always came across much information on HIV and AIDS, some of which presented serious contradictions.  It is true that my experience first as a young person living in the village and later enrolled in high school had realized great influence from information gathered from friends and other close relatives. In our society, HIV/IDS presented a fearsome disease that was believed to affect people in many mysterious ways.  This insinuation resulted in the stigmatization of the community and thus great suffering of the infected and affected.

 While going through this work, I have gained much knowledge not only on the origin of the disease but also on Transmission, diagnosis, risk factors, symptoms, and prevention.  This work has also helped me appreciate the many different measures in place that serve to stop the spread of the daises.   Additionally, the study sheds light on some contradictory information spread around, especially with regard to how HIV is transmitted and treated.  The information gained is of great significance to me, considering the discipline I am undertaking. I believe with such information, I will be able to help many other people who find themselves trapped in the same pit of ignorance and as a result cause much pain to the people infected or affected by the disease.

Last but not least, the assessment tools provided play a major role when it comes to understanding how much information I have grasped on the subject. With such tools, one can ensure that very important information on the disease is always at his/her fingertips.
