Therefore, the different software offers precision and accuracy at different level of operation and data type. For the evaluation, this paper several issues will address the various software available in the market. The weaknesses, strengths, and precision of the software produced by the different companies are evaluated. The three main LIMS software to be evaluated include; Sunquest Laboratory, Millennium PathNet and Meditech Magic. The two software products are health related and are restricted to the sector. Therefore, the different software offers precision and accuracy at different level of operation and data type. In order to purchase new software, the company must be able to establish its laboratory needs and be level of accuracy required. Sunquest Laboratory Systems Sunquest Information System is leading company providing the laboratory and diagnostic solution with over 1400 hospitals and laboratory using its software in data storage and management of the various problems (Cap Today 79). The company employed the use of the Five Rights of Laboratory Testing to sensitive the healthcare sector on the benefits of laboratory testing in healthcare sector. Such approach was important because it helped in the marketing of the company’s software products. The Five Rights Laboratory Testing involves the understanding of the main focus of the testing. Right Test is an aspect addressed by the company. Sunquest software is not effective in handling large data. The software controls the inventory of a diagnostic laboratory by addressing the various issues and the efficiency of the software cannot be underestimated (Cap Today 68). The success of the company’s software is based on the ability to supply customer care initiatives and continuous upgrade of the software. The company received several reviews based on the perception of the user. The software developed by the company covers several issues in the laboratory works including the SMART, Blood Bank, and Microbiology. The success of the products is attributed to the use diverse products. Cerner- Millennium Path Net Cerner provides an online laboratory ordering system with precisions and accuracy on the order process. The company addresses the issues of lab test ordering by auto-filing some of the vital data recurring in the ordering process. The company offers the platform for training including the provision of online help systems, which encourage an effective resolution of the problem. The software by the company is available online. The software is able to calculate and interpret the data entered and reduce the time needed for the inference. Additionally, the company has increased its ability to work with the latest technology making their software reliability in a changing technology world. The interface developed by the company has a seamless user interface that is a vital concept in marketing. Data exchange is possible through the interface making it powerful and reliable software. In addition, the software has the Picture Archive and Communication Systems enabling caregivers to view images directly. The images include X-rays, Magnetic Resonance Images (MRIs), CAT scans and other diagnostic images. It is not located local client (PC), but the message goes through the mail server before it is sent to the recipient. The software Email systems, employs a mail server defined in private networks. The product is vital in management of the various data available in the medical fields including the evaluation of the nature of the nature of the software and data. The software by Meditech is very different to the Sunquest software because of the mode of operation and the focus of the software. Blood bank Information systems comparison The blood bank information systems are important to the healthcare sector because they handle several issues produced. The blood bank information system has two main companies. A blood Bank control system was developed in 1987 with the latest one being developed in May 2008. Path Net Millennium Blood transfusion was developed in 1996 with the latest software being developed in 2006. The blood bank control system has received several contracts especially two contracts, while Path Net Millennium Blood transfusion software did not receive any contract from US hospitals. Blood bank information systems has been accepted by 22 regional blood centers with donor service, but the Path Net Millennium Blood Transfusion software does not apply to the regional blood centers (Cap Today 78). Consequently, Blood Bank Control System operates under the IBM hardware and workstations while Path Net Millennium Blood transfusion operates on diverse platforms such as HP, IBM hardware and work stations operating on Microsoft Windows. Both the two software support the bar-code reading and auto tracking. Compared to Blood Blank Computer Systems, PathNet Millennium Blood transfusion has not been able to receive contracts and has even failed to get contracts in the US. However, the software offers the opportunity to use. In addition; it supports the use different programming languages. Medical Information technology is software handling the issues of blood bank information but the success of the software is because it has 413 operating sites, but has signed nine contracts. Compared to the two software evaluated addressed in the initial paragraph, the software supports the HL7 interface. The main drawback of Meditech Information Technology is in the inability of the software to address the issues of the blood bank ASP solution. It does not provide supports for the client contracts from the data center. Sunquest laboratory systems offer a system that is similar to the others in the Blood bank information systems. The system is one of the most successful because it is used in Bermuda, Canada, and other Middle East countries. The server platforms of the software are diverse and support other programming languages including Visual C++, Active X and Visual Basic (Cap Today 77). Compared to the three software analyzed above it is the only software with diverse support in programming. The software evaluation indicates that it has been successful by virtue of the ease of use and availability. The software is one of the most successful in the market. Currently, it does not support the blood bank systems software because a new version has not been developed. Conclusion The software from the three companies focus on different aspect of data management and the focus of the various consumers is different because of their goals. The software by Sunquest focus on different issues including the medical testing laboratory issues, which are complex and need a significant degree of accuracy and precision. The success of the companies will depend on their products’ ability to address the needs of the customers especially in matters of accuracy and precision. However, the products by the different companies are not rigid, but dynamic indicating the changing needs of the medical sector (Cap Today 86). The software produced by the three companies has their advantages and disadvantages based on area of application. Meditech produces software supporting diverse issues, while Sunquest produce software with a specific focus. The Sunquest products are different because they target specific issues in laboratory work and address the various issues in the project (Cap Today 56). Millennium PathNet is software focusing on the management of healthcare data. However, the company has several issues that need to be addressed because of the general nature of the software.
