The realists of 1940s believed that war is a struggle for power over an event; for countries to engage in a conflict there has to be a relative gain that the participants anticipate at the end of the war. Among the reasons that leads to war is the inversion by other countries since the targeted country operations are managed through anarchy. Such regimes results from when a collective security agreement fails to yield tangible outcome leading to disintegration. However, the national and collective interest of the country has to be a common factor in order for the country to experience proper governance. The leadership of a country has to mutually understand each other in order to ensure that everybody gets a share of the power to avoid conflicts. The causes and potential cures for armed conflict Since power is the main cause of war, the leadership should be agreed upon through mutual and coherent strategy that considers both the majority and minority groups, this would result into a consensus hence peace and unity among the leadership. Are their arguments convincing? Why or why not? The argument about the cause of conflict in a country are very convincing, however, the leaders should not be gullible since both the majority and minority should be considered in order to equitably balance the leadership. Q2 Discussing realists’ position on causes and prevention of war The realists believe that power struggle is the main cause of war, however, in order to avoid it, the leadership should have a common interest so that they struggle towards achieving the common goal. Potentially, conflict results from the disagreements involved in sharing power and resources. Since every leader targets specific issue in order to declare the interest in political leadership of a country. Failure to achieve the perceived interest would result into forceful struggle to grab resources for selfish gain which other opponents would not admit; hence the commencement of strife in a country. The argument is convincing since the leadership of every country is at present composed of the rich individuals who are ready to get richer at the expense of the poor who are getting poorer. This increases the gap between the rich and the poor within a country lowering economic development.(Ludger 2012) When defining market economy we have to consider we have to consider demand, supply, resources, individuals and government intervention. Hence market economy can be summarized as type of system, where economic systems are proscribed, dictated by supply and demand instead of government controls. Like tariffs and subsides on both expert and import of goods and services. Q3 Advantages of market economy In case of profits, individuals are able to benefit since the business owner would share all the profits for himself. Decision making is business ineffective since there is no need of consultative meetings in order to accept a liability. However, the process of obtaining grants and loans is tiresome since there is not enough security in place compared to the common market where members are connected by a central pool of risks. Command economy is a unique kind of system where trade is monitored by collectivist with concerns of forceful involvement in business. Without the ability for self determination, business men and women operate from central control point. For instance cooperation with a common pull of securities that governs the memorandum of association. Advantages of Command economy In a command economy businesses are controlled from a central point, this enhances security of the business. All the risks are e well shared hence businesspersons are not overstrained when revenues are lower than the expectation. In case there s nee to obtain business loans, a command economy is op better placed and would obtain business loans with ease comparatively to the market economy. Trade operations are centralized hence ease in making urgent decisions that would positively impact on the business. (Ludger 2012) However, since the management is from a central place, personal decisions are often not considered especially when making emergency decisions that require a quorum. The market economy and command economy corresponds to the real situation in the world. For instance businesses managed by sole a proprietorship are determined upon by the proprietor who bares all the profits and loss alike, while organizations comprise up of groups through a constitutional law. Part 2 Q1 There is a strong relationship between liberal idealism and globalization. Liberals believe in the significance of liberation, freedom and equal human rights for everyone. On the other perspective, globalization is the interdependence of world’s cultures, people and economies. Liberalism is all about human rights and democracy. A liberal idealist will strongly support globalization as it accelerates liberalism. A fully globalized world in the mind of a liberal idealist is like discussed below.      Globalization encourages more trade between states around the world. This is a positive gain to a liberal idealist as it would promote more inter-dependent between countries hence promoting world peace which liberals crusade for.      Globalization leads to exchange of cultures and social beliefs across the world. It also lead to faster spread of ideas which is good thing to a liberal idealist as it would help in enhancing world democracy therefore making the world a enhanced place to live in. However this might also lead to consumerism which is unhealthy for business.      According to a liberal idealist, globalization would lead to spread of military weapons which is not a bad thing. This is because military weapons ensure a country is able to protect itself from external attack from other countries. This ensures that the country is able to protect its citizens at all time.      One of the negative effects of globalization is global climate change. This is a good thing according to liberalism as it is a global problem, thus, it has to be solved globally. This helps in bringing the whole world together to tackle a common vice hence promoting the world peace. Q2 A realist is a person who beliefs that reality is independent to the observer. A realist will not agree with an idealist, they have divergent views about an issue. A realist’s view of globalization is very different from that of an idealist as discussed below. Globalization helps to empower a country economically. It’s through globalization that a country becomes more wealth and hence acquires more economic power e.g. Russia and China. To a realist this is not good as to him power should be concentrated to a few countries like the US and UK. It’s through globalization that democracy is achieved as it promotes exchange of ideas across countries. It also helps in exchange of cultural and social beliefs. This according to a realist is not a good thing as democracy to him causes more harm than good to the world. Globalization leads to empowering of nations in military terms. This means that more nations have weapons at their disposal. To a realist this is of more harm as it would lead to destabilization of the world peace. In environmental terms increased globalization leads to competition of natural resources like land and water by states as well as world population. Globalization will also lead to disputes and disagreements on standards and regulations. (Ludger 2012) Q3      Less developed countries face numerous threats and challenges in their security/ military. Key among them is as discussed below.      One of the major challenges facing military in developing countries is civil war and coups. Taking an action against this kind of a risk is quite expensive. Civil wars are most likely to happen in Less developing countries. Once they start, they are end to take a longer duration and keep on re-occurring. The cost of these wars are extremely enormous to both nationalist and neighbors.      Coups are also major risks to the military in developing countries. The cost of maintain this risk is very high. They are expensive and badly reduce the growth of a country by a big percentage.      Influence from the developed countries is a big problem to LDCs. Many are times when a military action being taken in these countries is greatly influenced by countries like the US and the UK.      Neo-colonialism is another challenge whereby the colonial masters of these LDCs directly and indirectly influence their military actions. The colonial masters will tend to take sides on military actions taking into account how they will benefit from the situation.      Less developing countries have less finances to purchase military weapons and mostly depend on donor funds for purchasing military weapons. This leads them to purchasing of low quality weapons therefore they are ill prepared for wars at all times.      This threats can be avoided by coming up with clear policies and structures which will help the LDCs to start generating adequate funds to finance their military budget and stop relying on donors for this noble function.
