Regardless of the zone of conflict that one can imagine over the past 40 years, MSF has been on the front lines to administer much-needed medical aid to those most affected populations.  In this way, rather than providing merely response aid to affected regions, MSF works actively to alleviate suffering in all its forms no matter what theater it represents itself. Although they are also active in conflict zones, MSF's main focus is to administer to the needs of the most disenfranchised.  As such, their team of volunteer medical professionals has an extensive support network that is funded by many governmental and public sources to achieve the work that they perform.

MSF cannot either be considered a foe or a friend in the zone of conflict; rather they are a neutral actor by charter and seek only to remedy the suffering of humanity wherever that may be found.  In this way, the group has no respect for international boundaries, warring factions, and/or what side may be more politically correct on a key determinant.  However, even though MSF cannot be considered as a friend or foe within the realm of conflict it is very easy to understand that this group can have a major impact on bringing two sides of a conflict to a more rapid resolution to the selfless nature of the work that they perform.
