Revolt on the Nile It is documented from the records of the Nile floods that the religious leaders as opposed from being weakened they became more and stronger in all manner of respect. The authorities were therefore less likely to be replaced and their recognition increased over time. One of the sects in which the authorities power increased was on the political from as they were better placed in the position of being able to effectively coordinate and execute a revolt, this is as supported by conduct that has been conducted on the same which highly supports the argument presented as opposed to their support of the otherwise position. Therefore it is prudent to say that the Nile shocks had been responsible for most of the social instabilities that existed at the time (Chaney). Throughout history, it is evident that partly the bad economic times have normally given way for liberalization and room for democratic changes that had been witnessed before. Despite this fact, not all changes along the democratic lines followed this line of thought. This is because of the rise of institutions which lead to support autocratic regimes like the religion through the religious leaders. Such institutions worked closely within the social frameworks and in agreement with the autocratic governments to suppress the people (Chaney). This therefore placed the religious institutions in determining the balance within the society in the manner they operate. This does not though have empirical data though its acts have been on record and can be proven. There is therefore a negative relationship between the Nile floods and the actions by the religious groups. This is because during the Nile floods the religious groups became stronger and since they worked closely with the oppressive governments of the day, they lead to the suffering of the people. This was strengthened further as the high judge had no probability of quitting office during such a time when the Nile outburst their banks. At the time when the Nile experienced the shocks, more religious institutions were formed and became stronger. As a result the political power of the religious leaders increased. This power made the high judge wield excessive power and exert such influence on the social hierarchy given that the political power itself was a product of the influence they possessed (Chaney). The Nile floods caused an environment of social unrest where the leaders such as the high judge could swim through heightened political power. Due to the social unrests created the religious leaders got it easier to bargain and in the event their bargains were not honored they colluded to create a revolt due to their following. Revolts created at such times went excessively high and ended up remaining excessively high for reasons not quite easy to explain. The social unrests are recorded to be accompanied by hardships such as the escalated food prices and communities fought one another struggling for the little resources existent at the time. Although the Nile instigated religiosity is criticized by some theories, it still remains the most credible cause of unrest rendering the other reasons as having less impact. The replacement of the high judges also resulted because of the Nile shocks though other smaller percentages resulted from the minority factors. In addition, the Nile induced increase in the political power of the high judges was high; the increase of the said political power due to other reasons also occupied a place. It is argued that instead of the floods or shock directly increasing the political powers; they first induced social unrests which made the political leaders responsible for the appointment of the head judges to defer such appointments leading to the religious allocations to religious leaders who were considered as the aids of the society. In this manner the religious leaders increased their political influence and at the time protected their office by strengthening the religious leader coverage and impact to the society (Chaney). This is the point when the aspect of the impact of the economic crisis causing the collapse of the autocratic styles hence the emergence of the democratic leadership. The subjects find it upon them to lead from the front as the government of the day has failed in providing for their citizen. This give chance to other groups in the society to gain strength and occupy the vacuum created. The aspect that the Nile shock created an alteration in the balance of power is therefore much clearer making the religious authorities at the time much stronger and with great influence. Because there is no evidence of government thrown out due to religious instigated revolt at the time, it meant the Islam religious group which was meant to act as a control at the time colluded with the autocratic government. The main arguments in this discussion are that the Nile shocks lead to the increase in the religious institutional structures. The data also shows the same, furthermore, the shocks are argued to cause social unrests which lead to the to the bargaining powers of the religious institutions and hence their political power. The reason behind all these was to cause the autocratic governments of the day to be replaced by the democratic as so perceived governments. The toppling of the autocratic governments did not take place as the religious leaders of the time colluded with the governments. The religious institutions were though quite strong and could help in the bargains; despite this fact they did not have that much influence. This is because according to the renowned historians they misused their influence to cause resilience to the autocratic governments. The power of the religious institutions though increased during economic downturns yet they did not use this to help the less fortunate in the society a situation which resulted into reactions from the public. This approach to the case is vital as they because the government of Egypt just like any other government of the day ought to be responsible to its citizens in form of provisions of the basic necessities to its citizens (Chaney). The citizens are responsible for placing their governments under checks and balances during such times to ensure the government acts like they should. Such institutions include even the religious groups among others and when the religious institutions go it with the government to aid the betrayal of the people, this leaves the people helpless. A crisis can hence occur to the society in forms of unrests. Fights are likely to erupt and this would lead to others like food shortages and escalating commodity prices. The current reading talks about the institutional makeup of the pre-modern Egypt and the impacts of the Nile shocks on the operations of the pre-modern Egypt. The other part of this reading is the proof through data that such occur. Therefore, it is a fact that during the Nile shocks the replacement of the highest ranking religious leader was not easy making the strengths of such institutions to increase at such a time. This is not the case according to the current readings as the current causes of such increase in religiosity are vast and dynamic. The rise in the impacts of religious groups from the provision of current needs to the people and the well organized structures for growth of such institutions. The result of such rise in the authority of the religious groups could lead to a coordinated revolt a situation which currently can be from completely different causes. Such causes include the refusal by the government to perform their roles in the society.
