This signed treaty made the US empower the islands for the next 115 years. From there onwards, the US began to put forth its economic and military power as the US global project. Under this project, the US had seemed to take more interest in conquering the treasures of other nations and wealth, instead of gaining more colonies. This global project of the US was termed to be as; colonialism without colonies, informal empire, neo-imperialism, and neocolonialism. Soon after the Treaty in 1898, the global control over underdeveloped countries was successfully won by the neo-imperialists. Later, this dilemma led to the exploitation in US foreign policy, backed by the factors like racialism and dominancy. The best example can be seen by the behavior of the US in the Western hemisphere.

Even this year, it has been witnessed that Washington is yet in the process of continuing its useless and immoral hindrance against Cuba. The US has been using the detriment of its foreign policy over various countries in many ways. The examples of eagerly spying on the oil companies of the Brazilian state, denying the rightful democratic processes in Venezuela, detainment of the Bolivia President without looking over the solid justifications, clearly prove the informality of US foreign policy. The US has also been strongly condemned for its act of spying on Latin American citizens by the President of Brazil. Yet President Obama has not differentiated itself from its ancestors in approaching the US foreign policy, this highlights the regions which are maintained relating to ‘backyard’ on the extent of US foreign policy’s absurdity.

Even today, the diplomacy and clumsiness of the US are widely visible to the entire world. To make the shameful history change, the US has conducted the elections and reelections with the victory of President Barack Obama and trying to balance its acts in the world. The citizens of the US are utterly unaware of the government’s abnormal behavior around the world. The brutal political tactics relating to the Western colonial power and proxies have been normalized up to a very extent, regarding US domestic police forces.

This foreign policy system of global power is too rigid, and not easily understandable by the US citizens. The 115 years of history of this US global project, shed light on many factors falling under this informal system.
