The medieval age is the period between the fourth and fifteenth century. The historical backdrop of the medieval agesis, for the most part, concerned with the obligation of women in the European culture. The essay focuses on the role of the woman in the medieval ages as is defined by the functions they carried out in the society at that time. Medieval England was not an agreeable place for women; they perpetually had some major difficulties in a period when numerous men existed and lived brutal lives. Women were given different treatment depending on their social and economic background. Those from a rich background were honored, but those from a poor background were treated in a more harsh way. However,medieval society was totally commanded by men,and ladies needed to know their place in the general public (Rexroth 102). Rexroth notes that women were required to carry out some house chores such as cooking and other domestic work. However, some women from the rich backgrounds were allowed to conduct some activities that were of economic value to the society. Some of the activities played by women include milking cows and looking after domestic animals. With regard to the activities carried out by ladies at that period, it can be concluded that they were destined to domestic chores. The medieval world is said to be exceptionally customary. Ladies had zero part practically to play in the nation on the loose. In the city, society would have effectively overseen what occupations a woman could perform, and her part in a medieval society would have been to help her mate. And in addition doing her daily chores, whether in a town or at home, a lady would have had numerous obligations concerning her job (Hanawalt 39). The duties played by women in this period were those that helped men to work harder or improve their efficiency. The responsibilities include some tasks like cooking for the man of the house. The women were expected to carry out this duty by the society to help men carry out their duties continuously. Men could now feel motivated as they did not waste any time in the house doing jobs like preparing meals. Jobs are mostly believed to be available in the urban regions. Inside a town, ladies would have done a significant number of the undertakings men did in the area. Even so, they were lowly paid for completing the same piece of the task. In medieval towns, ladies would have thought that it was hard to progress into an exchange as medieval societies habitually banned women from going along with them. Consequently, a popular occupation, as perceived by a society, was for the most part out of the span for any lady living in a town. It means, therefore, that ladies could not perform some jobs which were regarded as men jobs. Inside towns, ladies were permitted to do work that included garments making and other jobs that are regarded as feminine jobs.For some ladies, life as a servant for the rich was what they were trust for. Such tasks were requesting and poorly compensated. The law, set by men, likewise enormously constrained the opportunity of ladies. Ladies were not permitted to wed without their guardians assent. Considering this situation, it can be concluded that women’s lives in the medieval ages was not different from that of a slave. Numerous ladies from rich foundations would have hitched when they were youngsters. Medieval society had an alternate standpoint to youngsters when contrasted with today. Youngsters from poor families would have worked from the most punctual age conceivable, and they were dealt with as grown-ups from the age of ten or eleven. On the other hand, labor was risky as therapeutic consideration was so poor. In addition, wives from a rich family typically did not care for their youngsters. Ladies from a poor family needed to take care of the youngsters as well as needed to keep doing her regular work both in the home and in the area. In the traditional society, the function of a woman was to bear children. The role sends a statement that women were not involved in any economic gainful activity. In conclusion, ladies experienced unequal association in the medieval period. They worked harder for a lesser pay, denied an opportunity to invest, made to work like a servant, placed in the kitchen to work for the man and the children, and given a task of child bearing and rearing.
