? HUMAN RESOURCES: PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT By Location Introduction Developing oneself and the entire organization is vital due to several reasons. For instance, there is improved performance resulting from an enhancement of personal performance skills. Secondly, there is increased productivity and one of high quality due to efficiency in performance. Self-management is crucial in enabling an individual to follow set rules. This essay primarily entails information on the personal and professional organization. In addition, the study involves an investigation of the ways people can learn to identify suitable methods for development. Further, there are some suggestions on how concerned individuals can encourage lifelong learning in personal and professional context. Finally, the essay evaluates the benefits of self-managed learning for both the individual as well as the organization. Personal and professional development Personal development refers to the action of a particular individual to advance through various activities necessary for bringing awareness of one’s potential. Personal development is responsible for ensuring that an individual has all the requisites for actual job performance. Professional development refers to the advancement of individual performance through specialization in a particular field. Professional development is crucial for personal development, as it takes into account advancement in a person’s career and impact on the organization (Bubb & Earley 2007, p. 42). It helps one to acquire high-tech skills useful in overall performance. The outcome of professional development is one exhibiting quality work. Such individuals include instructors, trainers, accountants, and health care officers. The principal motive why different individuals engage in professional development is the interest they have concerned lifelong learning. Importance of Personal and Professional Development of an individual Through an introduction and affiliation of individuals with the personal and professional program, individuals acquire necessary skills for their actions regarding how to carry out assigned tasks. There are several results of personal and professional development. To begin with, such development enables individuals to acquire vital data or making goal oriented plans. Secondly, personal and professional development is essential for the performance of the organization, which is through placement of skilled personnel in different departments after a scrutiny of the skills that one has. Additionally, personal and professional development acts as a tool for designing and setting organizational objectives. It also helps leaders learn about their weak side when dealing with workers (Tomlinson 2004, p. 119). Finally, personal and professional development helps individuals develop a better perception concerning the differences between them and others within the organization. These objectives are in line with skillful tactics of focusing on what is best is achievable in the organization within a certain period. Recommendation on how people could learn to identify suitable methods for development Individuals, whether working in organizations or venturing into small business entities need to learn more about essential methods for development. The reason for learning about the methods is that people desire to grow and that they need their businesses to grow on the positive side of the economy. There are various ways helping one to identify the best development methods to apply. For instance, one should have better leadership styles. Leadership is important especially in a large organization where an individual (specifically a manager), has to help set objectives related to performance towards completion of set targets. There is also management of conflict, which is of significance when an individual has to have a good relation with the environment. Conflict management helps individual set objectives that are achievable by the employees within that area. Moreover, there is management of the budget. It entails a certain procedure for using finance of the organization. How to encourage lifelong learning in personal and professional context Individuals should know what is best when undertaking tasks. Required facts are of great importance to those currently at work. Working individuals also need some training on how to perform (Bubb & Earley 2007, p. 176). This can be through a development program, which entails much information about various methods used when developing individuals. This program asserts that development is best through an assessment of the capabilities regarding various tasks performed in separate departments. Additionally, individuals who deliberately perform diverse tasks without a concern on the consequences of the task need to obtain some knowledge about the importance of having a vision of what one is about to partake. Moreover, the program involves information vital for bringing to light personal interests, values, set goals, and the level where one falls in in the cycle of professional development. It is important for the individuals concerned about their personal interests to consider the effect that such interests may have on the performance of the organization. The benefits of self-managed learning to the individual Self-managed learning refers to the personal advancement of ability and skills with an aim of improving the performance of the organization. Individuals benefit through acquiring the necessary skills for performing their work. It also helps people acquire necessary information when undertaking tasks. In addition, personally-managed learning helps individuals gain the courage of performing tasks that are more difficult. Further, personal-managed learning helps individuals be assertive when setting personal rules (Throop 2009, p. 299). This is of importance as it helps work towards achievement of the set goals. The benefits of self-managed learning in the organization Self-managed learning in the organization lies under the fact that all what is good for an individual is also good for the organization. Therefore, as individuals aim at developing, there is a developmental benefit to the organization. Through personal improved skills, the quality of output is better than before due to improved capability (Colwill 2012, p. 15). Through the courage that employees gain, there is an improvement in performance of tasks vital for increasing profits of the organization. Assertive employees are useful to the organization, as they aid in completion of the performance targets. Summary and conclusion In summary, personal and professional development leads to an improvement in personal capability. It aims at enhancing the skills individuals have when carrying out their duties. Personal and professional development forms the basis of organizational performance. This specifically results from good personal performance. Improvement of personal and professional development is through lifelong learning. Personally-managed learning is significant in the performance of individuals and that of the organization. In conclusion, individuals (particularly managers) should implement ways of developing workers, to have an increased production.
