? Topic Organization Analysis Paper Introduction: Apple Inc. (Apple) is an American company that was founded on 1st April 1976. It was later incorporated in Apple Inc. computer on 3rd January 1977. The company has since shifted its focus to consumer electronics hence the word computer was removed from the company name on 9th 0f January 2007. It designs, develops, markets and sells computer software, consumer electronics and personal computers. It is a prominent software and hardware company. Some of its hardware products include; the iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple T.V. It’s software include OSX and iOS operating systems, the iCloud, iTunes, iLife, media browsing and a variety of other accessory service and support system. The company offers a wide range of mobile communication, personal computing products, portable digital music players and media services, as well as a range of related software, services, networking solutions, peripherals, and third party software and hardware products. The apple company has a well thought out plan to create an apple culture by delivering strong products. Apples’ fascinating products has seen the company enjoy fanatical brand loyalty. Apple products are a result of extensive research and strong designs; they always consider what the customer wants and they are out to satisfy their customers. Apple Inc. is a multinational company that holds its headquarters in Cupertino, California. It is the second largest information technology company in the world, second to Samsung Electronics and the third largest mobile phone manufacturer after Samsung and Nokia. Apple inc. maintains over 394 retail stores across fourteen countries as well as the online Apple store and iTunes stores. It sells its products worldwide through its online stores, retail stores, and direct sales force, as well as through third-party cellular network carriers, retailers, whole sellers, and value-added resellers. Apple not only enjoys the theoretical popularity in fact, it topped the list with annual revenue above $100 billion and since 2010 having a profit mark of above $20 billion. Apple accommodates approximately 60,400 people in different departments such as software development, assembly and design, distribution, marketing and sales etc. Apple’s mission statement: “Apple Inc. is determined and committed to deliver the best personal computing experience by offering technologically ingenious products and services to students, educators, creative professionals and consumers around the world through its unique modern hardware and software. Apple is able to enhance resources for future generations and for continuous improvements.” Role of HR in accomplishing the Apple’s Mission: Employees of any organization play an important role in the organization's success and mission accomplishment. Moreover, they are the people who heightened the revenue generation and trades the company’s image worldwide to the people interested in their goods and services. Apple is fortunate in having a powerful human resource who is striving hard to maintain the positive image of Apple since its birth. The Apple’s workforce has marked the HR department as a highly goal-oriented and organized department. Apple’s HR is highly talented and knows how to implement latest HR practices to achieve company’s goal and mission. They appreciate the innovative behavior to establish a shared culture, nurture talent and to motivate the integration of mind and skill with the tasks a person performs. Being the leader in the gadget’s market Apple has introduced passion for work sort of attitude rather than employee-employer attitude. (Snee, 1998). DELL, IBM and similar other gadget companies are not just a threat to this emerging company, but is a significant hindrance for the company to recognize its full abilities. In a walk to compete with these monstrous competitors Apple relies on the implementation of 3 vital strategies that is hiring, training and nurturing creative minds. Apple has targeted the upper social class and is developing products that are both satisfying and appealing to their patrons and it is definitely a wise step toward Apple’s mission achievement. The HR department is accountable for the achievements and failures of Apple so, change must be originated from the HR department. That’s is why Apple’s HR force stresses to hire, train, develop, educate and reward their workers in order to avoid employee poaching and flip-flopping revenues incidents. Apple’s HRM also includes performance based bonuses, knowledge sharing, open-book management system, reward ceremonies, unbiased employee evaluation system and the creation of healthy and safe workplace. (Banuelas, 2001) The Apple HR department encourages the talented employees to be the leaders in different management lines. Moreover, they also arrange workshops to improve the skills to boost their individual performances. Moreover, teamwork is the essence of Apple’s success. Teamwork ignites the performance of the employees and they remain focused on their mission. HR department put their efforts to eliminate the problems from the roots and train the workers to lower the probability of errors. Apple’s HR plays a significant role in achieving the company’s mission by arranging different workshops for their employees both within and outside the organization. Actually, Apple is based on innovative and creative minds and ideas so, the basic reason behind workshops is to aid in the furthering and the formulation of innovative minds and ideas. It is the thing that has enabled Apple to grab talented design architects and software developers. According to the Apple’s CEO this strategy helped Apple a lot in lowering the poaching of workers by other gadget companies. HR challenges prevailing in Apple: No doubt, the HR department plays a significant role to achieve a company’s goals or missions. Apple puts its best to create a peaceful working environment for the employees and they have implemented several strategies that motivates employees and make them feel comfortable within their working premises. Apart from all these things Apple’s HR includes the following challenges Low employees salary High turnover Drawing technical talent Creating opportunities Keeping the communication In today’s technology oriented world, attracting the technical talent becomes a scary task for the HR managers. As far as Apple is concerned it completely relies on innovation and technical talent to inspire passion among their customers and keep it ahead of its competitors. Employees poaching has been a common practice in Apple since last few couple of years and the high turnover rate of employees is damaging the company’s image and is also affecting its growth rate. Apple has to design a strong strategy to stop poaching and turnover of the employees. Low employees perks and salary has been a constant complaint from this organization. Human resource of Apple is of the view that as compared to other tech companies Apple offers limited perks and salaries to their employees moreover, promotions are extremely hard in fact, there is no opportunity to go up. In today’s tough competition keeping employees engaged all the time is quite a challenging task for the HR managers. That is why Apple HR department is working hard to create some internal opportunities so, that the employees will feel that they are not stuck. Another challenge is to keep up the stable communication with all the workers working under Apple and that is why to remain in touch with the employees Apple and many companies are improving their presences on the social sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Linkdin and many more. (Azharch, 2011) Conclusion and recommendation: Achieving success and grabbing higher revenues is no doubt always fascinating but, it also tougher the competition and same happened to Apple Inc. So, Apple has incorporated an HRM strategy that coordinates the employee's duties as well as develops employees' performance attributes to reveal the organization’s mission of being unique. Considering Apple’s history and its HR it is essential to implement a strategy that investigate and governs groups that works with and for Apple. So, it is highly recommended that the stable and effective HR strategies and practices that are implemented in the main branches of Apple across the globe should be implemented in all the HR departments of the Apple’s affiliated organizations to achieve better results and outcomes. Knowledge discovery, the major part of 6-sigma methodology is an essential component that Apple has to use to diversify the flexibility when it is about dealing with hurdles or decision making. Moreover, to keep the employees hooked up Apple has to pay attention toward employees' salary, benefits and have to offer extra facilities like free lunch, gym, bonuses, promotions etc. additionally, Apple has to take the initiative of hiring people outside of Apple Inc. in order to offer solutions to the prevailing challenges. Apple also has to work hard on eradicating the junior, senior differences so, no one will feel compromised by the responsibilities of their peers. Creating opportunities for employees refinement on reliability and skills will ultimately enhance the overall performance of Apple. Succession planning becomes necessary after the death of Apple’s former CEO Steve Job because no one knows what the future has for them. Doubtlessly, it is hard to forecast what will happen after 10 or 15 years but, it is essential to do it for the success and betterment of your organization. All of us are well aware of the fact that for every organization either working internationally or locally the HRM is considered as the backbone to the success so, it must be influential and functional.
