? Essay Creating your dream job Create a job and specifications for your dream job. My dream jobwill be of an architect working with any renowned firm in the country, working on several grand development projects occurring in the city, along with the team of skilled people. I want that my job should provide me with opportunities where I must be able to utilize all my skills. The size of the firm is not a matter of interest but the firm must encourage me to develop not only as a professional but as a person as well. I would prefer to be the location of my office to be in an urban city than a rural one. The location must be in one of the posh areas of the cities as it would then have picturesque building, etc. I would prefer New York as the city has a lot to offer. There are several affordable restaurants there, with nearby green space. The building where my office must be located should be clean, with a lot of green plants and natural light. My job would not be 9-5 one, it would rather have flexible timing. There must also be an option of working from home. Work day must vary according to the intensity of work. Spending a specific amount of time would not be the matter of interest, spending quality time would rather be appreciated. I would prefer to work with people who are educated and would motivate you for achieving different achievements for the organization as well as for myself. I would like to be the part of a learning organization, where people are working in a friendly environment. There must be high effective interpersonal communication between the employees of the organization. The colleagues I will be working with, must be of light nature and must laugh at frequent things so the working environment would rather be stress free. Team oriented environment must be encouraged by the organization. Weekly team meeting must be organized by the company. Learning, flexible timings and forward thinking must be the core aspects of the organizational culture. Organization must pay importance to the employees’ health. They must encourage them to lead a healthy life style. They should encourage the employees to maintain work life balance. The organization must help the employees to maintain work life balance. The must allow flexible working hour so that the employees may easily maintain the balance in their professional and personal life. The employees must be granted vacation days, which they must ask for without any reprimand. Design compensation and benefits package related to your dream job. My dream job must provide me with different compensations and benefits. The salary must be enough to pay back my student loan and to fulfill all the basic, social and self esteem needs of my life. The firm must also give accommodation as well as transport facility to all its employees. The compensation packages must include other firm investment in the retirement funds for all the employees. The organization must provide Health care benefits for the employees and their family. The organization must finance an annual vacation of the employees along with limited number of family members, to the location of their choice. This would give a break to the employees from all the business activities and they would relax their mind. The organization must also offer the productive employees compensation according to the level of their productivity this would help to foster the growth of an organization. The employee must also be given share in the profit of the organization according to their level of performance; this would encourage the employees to be more productive and would contribute towards the profitability of the organization. Rationalize your compensation and benefits package. Be sure to indicate the research and considerations that went into the design of the compensation and benefits package. Employees’ compensation does not only include the salary of the employees but all the extra rewards and benefits that employees get while working with the organization. It is the responsibility of every organization to design benefits and compensation packages for their employees. When an organization has a balanced set of salary, wages, benefits and compensation, so they remain competitive in the respective industry they are operating in. There are several compensations that the employees receives such as extra wage rate, bonus, extra pay for night shift, extra pay for achieving more than the defined target, etc. the benefits that the organization offers the employees includes; health insurance, retirement packages, life insurances, thrift saving plans, holidays, leaves, etc. Research shows that these compensation and benefits help to increase the employees’ productivity. There is a link between the compensation and benefits provided to the employees and the performance of an organization. When the employees are paid according to their performance, then the level of satisfaction will be increased which will influence them to perform better. Employees must be given vacations to their favorite location with family, this will help them to relax their senses and after that continue their work with new energy and enthusiasm. (Biswas, 2012). The compensation that the employees receive must be on the basis of their performance. When employees are given compensation and benefits without any increase in their level of performance, it will have a negative effect on them, as they will maintain the same standard of their performance and will not try improving it (John E. Core, 1999) Imagine this is the only position of its kind in the organization. From this perspective, design a performance appraisal program to assess your job performance. As an architect there are various factors that may affect my performance in the organization. It is the responsibility of the human resource manager to observe, the external factors that are affecting the performance of the employees. There are several factors that may be held responsible for affecting my performance in an organization; these factors may be; dissatisfaction in the working environment, work overload, etc. These factors must be addressed by the human resource manager. The human resource manager must regularly observe the environment I am working in. As the task of the architect is outdoor as well as indoor; therefore any factor which causes discomfort must be removed from the environment. Several strategies must be developed by the organization to raise the level of my performance and they must also work towards eliminating factor that may have negative effect on my performance. My performance must be evaluated of several criteria such as my ability to achieve the organizational goals, level of productivity, efficiency to meet the deadline of the assignments assigned to me. After evaluating my performance based on all these criteria, the organization must decide that whether or not I deserve to be promoted. Semi annual bonuses must be given on the basis of the performance. The architects of the company must be asked to identify the SMART goals of the organizations. The goals thus define will help to identify that which goals are important as must be achieved first. Rationalize your performance appraisal program. Be sure to indicate the research and considerations that went into the design of the performance appraisal program. Performance appraisal is an important aspect of HRM. Performance appraisal is of great importance in the theoretical studies as well as in the practical life. It can be defined as the evaluation of the duties and responsibilities assigned to the employees (Lu Huia, 2009). It is the responsibility of the organization to check the performance of their employees and if they are not performing up to the mark so they must look for the cause and try to eliminate them in order to increase the performance of the employees which will ultimately increase the firms’ performance as well as its profitability. The performance appraisal is usually based on the job activity of the employee rather than its personal characteristic. It also helps to analyze the areas where the employees need improvement and by enhancing these areas the overall performance of the employees is increased. When the organization reviews the performance of the employees regularly then they get to know the flaws and drawback of the organization better. This helps them to know that where the need of improvement is, in order to increase the efficiency of the organization. When the employees are given promotions as well as increment in their salaries, it encourages them to work more and increase their productivity. The employees needed to be encouraged for their increased level of performance and productivity. Identifying the SMART goals of an organization is also an important aspect of HRM. These are widely recognized tools used for performance management. The employees must be allowed to recognized specific and realistic goals of the organization. Some goals may be time bounded and needed to be completed in the following year; therefore it is important for the employees to recognize these goals and start working on it. References Biswas, B. D.
