Avoidance of Information Technology Project Failure These above mentioned key point objectives to complete the project lead us to achieve our goal and open our minds in the field of Information Systems. IT is said to be as Information Technology but what information technology involves in it is not clear. Technical projects are seems everywhere now days in our daily life but what information they provide, how they are related to information systems etc kind of questions arise in mind. To omit these ambiguities from mind, a detail research will be held on Information Technology and its different projects. Reasons for the project failures and their sufficient deeds for its avoidance are kept in focus while discussions and consultations with project managers and other resources likes books and Internet. DELIVERABLES Being an IT student, keeping only objectives in hand don’t completes my traits. Though it is the world of proofs and proving objectives with the presentations and documentations. Every deliverable clutches some fundamentals of this project. Deliverables till the end of the project will be as per defined: The project initials List of Sample IT Managers Questionnaire for IT Professionals Interview details with Project Managers Analysis Report Thesis Research Presentation The Project Initials This is the first deliverable that embrace the contents about Information Technology. What is Information Technology? When it is started? Since then how it is improved? What is the status of Information Technology now days? What kinds of projects and their importance in real world? Etc. This document is a small thesis on Information Technology with a little introduction to the real topic. This deliverable accomplish first three above-mentioned objectives of the project. List Of Sample IT Managers A sample of professionals is gathered to have a little talk upon the topic. Few famous and well-known software houses are being listed. Moreover to reach these software houses and contact the entire professionals, references are gathered. This list along with the professional names holds their contacts, their references and name of people they are reference by. Reason to make them our samples. This deliverable, strengths up our project research and help in the accomplishment of our forth above mentioned objective. Questionnaire For IT Professionals This deliverable is a complete document carrying related questions focusing the topic and finding what may be the reasons or strategies to avoid projects to be failed. This deliverable is submit to get the approval from the supervisor for proceedings. The questionnaire holds both close-ended and open-ended questions related to their experience and professionalism. Interview Details With Project Managers A detail interview is held with different project managers of different software houses who talk about different strategies to manage a project and keeping things sufficiently arranged that it wouldn’t cause a failure. This is all documented and is shown to the supervisor so that they also can agree with the conclusion at the end comes out. List of samples; Questionnaire, and this document; all three helps to achieve successfully the fourth objective. Analysis Report It includes the combine result that can be concluded from the questionnaire and interview statistically. They are represented graphically in charts and add it with their details. Thesis Last but not least, a document prepared after a complete research from interviews, questionnaire, Internet and book on the reasons for and strategies of avoiding project failure. This document includes objectives in detail, all research work, and how each and every objective is achieved. End of this thesis, is a bibliography, that lists all resources that are being used to accomplish this project successively. Research Presentation It would be a PowerPoint slides which summarizes the complete research work on the objective “The Reasons For And Adequate Avoidance Of Information Technology (IT) Project Failure”. OVERVIEW Every thing in hand may be mobile or a wristwatch is the latest and newest invention of Information Technology. These all project runs so accurately that it make a thought in mind that what may be the reasons why few of the mobiles can’t give proper reception and what things may the developer consider to make it perfect. Simply in other words, why in some offices the technical software fail and why some gets so professional that they enhance by every year. After the general discussion about these facts, our supervisor suggested us to work and find out what may be the reasons for and efficient way to avoid IT project failures. This is totally a research work that may not only include books and Internet but also some creative actions like interview and making questionnaire. Most interesting works to analyze their results statistically and conclude the actual reasons and strategies that do not lead the project to a failure. Though, the objective we choose for our project is “The Reasons For And Adequate Avoidance Of Information Technology (IT) Project Failure”. RELEVANCE TO PROGRAM AND COURSES This project opens our minds in the field of Information Systems. How the Technical projects are lead to get a project i.e. faulty. Not only it relates to our course Information Systems but helps in “Research Methodology” course where we learn to question and interviewing, taking help from books and Internet to end our research statistically. It also helps in using psychological analysis while interviewing project managers face to face, which we learn in “Psychology”. Contacting the consultants of IT in a manner that they trust you and allow you to be with them and have some interview sections are learned in “Sociology”. Besides these, this project mathematically helps to use “Probability & Statistics” while analyzing the results of research. It fills our brains with new ideas and makes the clear concept of each and every step taken in “Software Engineering”. LEGAL AND ETHICAL ISSUES While making this project copyrights are being cared off. No pilgrims will be found. Legal permission will be taken from the supervisors and consultants to interview them. Questionnaires will be made under the assistance of supervisor. This project will be a teamwork taking care of personal and social commitments. However work done will be equally divided. RESOURCES AND PEOPLE Resources like books from University Library and Internet Websites will fully exploit. People to be in contact other than supervisor will be experienced IT Managers from different Software Houses and to reach them, a reference letter from our supervisor will be authenticated. CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS The biggest success factor is team unity it shouldn’t be broken. As it can lead a disaster to the project and though we will be united by dividing each part of the project equally among wants and us every person to show up on every event held during this project. Different small team meetings to discuss the work would be made. All team members will gather at time of combining all research work and analyzing the results.
