Normally, a WAN spans largely geographically distributed regions for example a wide area network can be established in two countries, two cities or in large landmasses across the globe. However, the establishment of a WAN necessitates adequate knowledge, practical understanding and immense troubleshooting expertise. Additionally, at the present there exist various topologies and technical alternatives those can be used to build a WAN. These technologies include ISDN, ATM, X.25 and VPN etc. On the other hand, prior to building a WAN we need to calculate the upholding and installation expenditures, network dependability, distributed applications consistency and operational capability of the novel network. Moreover, a WAN environment is used to establish connections among worldwide companies, university’s campuses, airports, banks, call centers, stock exchanges, telecommunication corporations, ISPs and business headquarters (NetworkTutorials, 2007) and (Nash, 2000). This report presents a detailed analysis of some of the main aspects and areas of new technology based WAN network establishment at Acme Manufacturing. Business Overview This report presents the design of a new network for Acme Manufacturing Company. Acme Manufacturing Company has evolved to a huge business arrangement and it has considerably developed into a huge business framework. Thus, there is a dire need for establishment of WAN that can help the business to interlink the overall working and operational procedures of the business. In this scenario, our basic requirements is to connect different business offices and arrangements located in China as well as several other offices throughout the United States. Logical Network Drawing for Acme WAN I have presented below the logical networking drawing of the Acme WAN structure. This diagram shows the overall working, operational and data sharing structure of the business: Figure 1Logical WAN design for Acme Business Recommendations for the type ff Leased Lines This section discusses the imperative leased line services for each business division located at different places in different nations: Headquarters—Atlanta, Georgia For the headquarters located at Atlanta and Georgia we have chosen the business of Genx for the fast Ethernet Service. In this scenario, we will get the facility of connection like Point to Point Service, Gigabit Ethernet Service, DSL Service, Frame Relay Service, T3 Service, T1 Service, SIP Trunking, OC3 Service, OC1 Service, MPLS Trunking and much more (GenX10, 2002). Phoenix For the business division located at Phoenix we have chosen the Verizon for leased line services. In this scenario Verizon business will offer us T3, T1, Ethernet, OC-12 or OC-3 committed access internet services. The basic reason of choosing this company is that it well-liked in the local market place (Verizon, 2011). New York For the New York leased line services I have chosen Phoenix Internet Service. This is a perfect solution for businesses having 20 or more staff that needs Internet link for completing their day by day tasks. In this scenario, Phoenix Internet Service will offer us Point -to-Point T-1 to the Internet by means of Point-to-Point loops (Phoenix Internet, 2011). China For china leased line services I have chosen the Xocen China services which will offer us a variety of leased line circuits in a range of data capabilities normally ranging from 2Mb or more (Xocen China, 2011). Recommendations for Telecommunications System for Acme: Pbx Or Voip For the Acme business communication and VoIP services we have selected the Avaya IP Office telephone system which is the eventual VoIP PBX intended for small to middle level companies. Additionally, these VoIP communication technology systems are the best choice for the Acme business for its small working division located across different business areas. In addition, this business setup saves capital by means of technology based applications previously set aside for just the biggest companies. Moreover, IP Office telephone systems encompass a comprehensive variety of communication tools which have been incorporated into this money-saving framework. Furthermore, the basic needs of a business include computer telephony incorporation, Remote LAN access, speedy internet connections, customer relationship management and voicemail, which are effectively and widely offered through Avayas IP Office group (Carroll Communications, 2010). IP ADDRESSING This section presents IP address scheme, including the range of IP addresses, broadcast addresses, and subnets for the Acme’s network communication arrangement. For Acme we have purchased the “C” class IP address that is “192.168.121.1”. This IP address is able to offer a great deal of support and capability for communication and collaboration at the corporate areas. Subnet Mask 255.255.255.224 We have four main business departments across the world, so we have reserved 3 bits. Through this configuration we are able to get 8 subnet addresses. Mask Bits 27 Hosts per Subnet 30 Host Address Range 192.168.121.1 - 192.168.121.30 Subnet ID 192.168.121.0 Broadcast Address 192.168.121.31 Broadcast Address 192.168.121.31 First Octet Range 192 – 223 Hex IP Address C0.A8.79.01 Wildcard Mask 0.0.0.31 Subnet Bitmap 110nnnnn.nnnnnnnn.nnnnnnnn.ssshhhhh Recommendations for Network Equipment This section presents recommendations regarding network equipment that must be installed at each location; as well consider the equipment based on the teleconferencing needs: Wireless Gateway  For the Acme Business we will establish the wireless gateway at each business corporate working arrangement. This will offer capability of immediately transferring data and information inside the business arrangement. For this purpose we will implement 9160 G2 Wireless Gateway that will facilitate us to combine as well as equalize RF technologies to most excellently convene our necessities for instance 802.11b/g intended for data gathering applications, 802.11a designed for elevated bandwidth capabilities and narrow-band intended for extensive regions necessitating wide exposure (DEMATIC, 2011). WLAN Controllers We will implement Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers those are dependable as well as considered much reliable for system wide wireless LAN processes, like that infringement deterrence, safety policies, quality of service (QoS), RF management as well as mobility. In this scenario, we have selected Cisco 5500 Series for the Acme business (DEMATIC, 2011). Access Points and Ports Here we will use the Cisco wireless access points those will offer us an independent “network-in-a-box” that handles wireless data transmission among network users, access points as well as wireless switches. In this scenario, we will use the Cisco 1250 Series for Acme Business (DEMATIC, 2011). Protocols used for the Routers at each Location We should use the Ethernet network protocol for overall communication at the Acme business network communication. Recommendations for Wireless Technology To serve this purpose we should use Wi-Fi wireless network communication at the inside corporate department’s communication and satellite based network link for the corporate wide communication. Recommendations for Securing the Network To secure our network we should make use of network firewalls. Thereafter we should also develop a virtual private network for overall communication inside the corporate for potential protection from outsider attacks. Conclusion At the present, organizations use different network technologies for establishing connections among their business locations. These networks help them to communicate and carry out business activities in collaboration. This report has presented a detailed analysis of some of the main areas and aspects of the wide area network technology. This report has outlined the suggestions and methods to implement WAN technology at the Acme business corporate. References Carroll Communications. (2010).
