Facial recognition has been undergoing continuous improvements of its numerous software and technology to make it as accurate as possible, taking into consideration the various factors which affects facial recognition like illumination or the lighting used, a person’s skin color, over-all bodily weight and facial hair like mustache, brows, side-burns, and many other factors. It has found principal use in the police department, by identifying outlaws and criminals, terrorists, and other persons running from the law; in banks and other business offices, and even in private homes.

But how effective is it? Can it deter lawless elements from entering your premises? Does it help in crime prevention and crime-solving? Where is it suited in this modern day and age? It is the objective of this paper to give an intelligent analysis of its usability/non-usability in my chosen client/proposed end-user in particular, and to enumerate its advantages and disadvantages in general, as well as how it will change our notion of invasion of privacy. 1.2. . use of facial recognition will make identification more accurate and person specific, and may come in handy in times of violence and university unrest.

Also, facial recognition will mean a more high-tech approach to the studentry’s identification process. Factors I have to consider in MU are the following: total population (students and staff, plus security and maintenance personnel); system of security used in all entrances and exits; strategic hours where human traffic is the heaviest; identification of delicate structures like chemical laboratories, infirmary/clinics, etc. Some factors which may arise but are not included or foreseeable as of this moment will be included in the final phase of my project perspective. 1.3.

Project Plan: For this project, I have to thoroughly study and determine all the existing structures within the university compound, find out all its vulnerabilities, that is, all its exits and entrances, which will entail actual physical inspection of these structures. This is to identify all the important areas where security is of utmost importance like the cashier’s office, laboratories, the infirmary, stockrooms and such other vulnerable areas. It can also extend to the comfort rooms, cafeteria, and other portions of the university where security is a must.
