Running Head: Project II Data Analysis and Inference Project II Data Analysis and Inference Inserts His/her Answer The family is recommended to choose wireless network protocol to link their computers, Bluetooth printer, internet based T.V and VoIP phone. As it is one of the easiest and least expensive means to join the computers at home. This network is very flexible, as it does not requires physical wirings and ensures free movement within the range. The basic units of a wireless LAN are signal boosters, wireless antennas, wireless routers access points and signal boosters (The Goodheart-Willcox Co, n.d). However, the family requires a home network so they need to purchase network adapters, wireless antennas, range repeater and a Bluetooth dongle.

A wireless router may extend signals to about 100 feet in all directions, but these can be interrupted by walls. However to obtain enough coverage a range repeater or extender can be utilized. Moreover, a wireless network adapter installation will be needed in each of the devices that need to be connected. Any device that uses the Bluetooth can also be connected easily to each other, inside a 10 meters range, and most computers, printers, cell phones, home entertainment systems, cell phones, printers, computers and other gadgets come with this technology already been installed.

However, Bluetooth adapter helps if it’s not built in the computer (Mitchell, n.d).The media involved in wireless network connection is radio signal frequently referred as unbounded media, as it utilizes atmosphere for signal transmission in the form of electromagnetic waves. Answer 2The enterprise is required to purchase the following devicesHubsSwitchesBridgesRoutersNICs (Network Interface Card)WAPs (Wireless Access Point)FirewallsBeing an enterprise, the company requires both wired and wireless network protocols and all the devices mentioned above are commonly used in enterprises for providing both types of networks.

Answer 3The list of common server applications is as follows,Groupware and MailWeb File and PrintDatabase ManagementProxya) I will prefer my DBMS server to be installed on separate machine as if other internet connected machine (e.g. Web server) may get compromised my database would be safe from this attack (Martinez, n.d).b) Web server software allows a computer to host different websites via the domain name system (DNS). This system translates domain names that are people-friendly, such as "domain.

com" into Internet protocol (IP) addresses that pertain to the server that actually stores the information. It also enables a single server to host multiple websites or applications, despite the fact that computers traditionally only have one IP. Email servers are a part of an overall message system (Squared, 2009).c) Proxy Server should work in separate manner as it has heavy load of users on it to watch on.d) File and Print servers should also be kept in separate system as security of the shared files is also important which should not be breach (Jelen and King, 2008).

Answer 4The network devices utilized in my selected networks are followingHubsSwitchesBridgesRoutersNICs (Network Interface Card)WAPs (Wireless Access Point)Firewallsa) HubsHubs are utilized in networks that employ twisted-pair wiring to join devices. Hubs can be connected together to make larger networks. These are easy devices that direct information packets to every device linked to them.b) SwitchesSwitches, like hubs are connectivity spots in Ethernet network. Devices are connected to switches by twisted-pair wiring, each device having one cable.

Switches receive data and forward it to only that port which is connected to the target device by learning the devices’ MAC address connected to it, and by matching the it in the information it receives (Pearsoned, n.d).c) BridgesBridges split larger networks by assembling between two network sections and organizing the stream of information between them. They also check the device’s MAC address, linked to each section and then elect and forward the required data, or block it.d) RoutersIn an ordinary configuration, these are utilized to generate larger networks by means of connecting two network sections.

It is named such because it routes data received (Pearsoned, n.d). When a data packet is received, it reads the packet’s header to decide the target address. Then, it forwards it to the subsequent hop on the course.e) NICComputers require NICs in order to connect to the network. f) Wireless Network Adapter:Each computer connected to WLAN requires a wireless adapter. They are also sometimes called NICs. For desktop computers they are usually small PCI cards or at times card sort of USB adapters.

However for notebook computers, they resemble a credit card. These days they have been transformed from cards to chips that are embedded within notebook. They enclose a transceiver and radio transmitter (Pearsoned, n.d). These transceivers send plus receive messages, formatting, translating and usually organizing the stream of data between the network and the computer.. Wireless Access PointsAccess points (APs) in WLAN are a transmitting and receiving (transceiver) device. APs are normally a separate device with an inbuilt transmitter, antenna, and adapter.

APs use the wireless communications network mode to supply a linkage between a wired LAN and WLANs.g) FirewallsIt is a device used in networking that could be either software or hardware used to control access to an organization’s network. It is designed to defend resources and data from an external threat. Firewalls are usually placed at network’s exit/entry points.Wireless RoutersIt is an access point in the WLAN along with the addition of many other helpful functions. They support connection sharing with inclusion of firewall technology to enhance network security.

Their strong inbuilt transceivers are intended to extend wireless signals throughout the vicinity, enabling the usage of many computers and other internet devices within the range.Wireless AntennasWireless routers, network adapters and access points all require an antenna to help them in signals receiving. Some of them are internal as in adapters. Others are externally connected on various access points. The usual antennas dispatched along with wireless products, offer adequate reception mostly, but an add-on antenna to improve reception can be added (Pearsoned, n.d). Bluetooth DongleBluetooth adaptor enables computers to transfer data without using data cables from Bluetooth enabled devices.
