Implementation of the Server Implementation of the Server Servers can be described as the backbone of an organization. The implementation as well as the configuration of the server network in many cases often determines the prosperity or even failure of a business. In the deployment of the server, there will be the covering of several infrastructure roles such as DHCP as well as DNS which, despite the fact, that they work behind the scenes, the application servers often given life to the servers. Windows Server 2012 includes new features as well as enhancements that often make migrating to this platform very appealing to many organizations (Tulloch, 2012). It is imperative to understand that successful deployment often starts with good planning, and it is often never too early to begin planning changes in the IT environment. Therefore, throughout the infrastructure, Windows Server 2012 will be used, the enterprise edition on the other hand will be leveraged on all the other serves, this is because of its capability of having 4 virtual licenses per Operating system. In order to increase reliability as well as the security the Server Core will be on all the servers. All servers as well as operating systems will be installed using image files that will be retrieved from a master computer through the Windows Deployment services (WDS) (Tulloch, 2012). The installation of the operating systems from the Windows Deployment services will help dramatically increase the time taken for installation. All the server roles will be distributed in an equal way and it will help take advantage of fault tolerance, availability, security as well as allocation. The foundation of these placing workstations as well as servers, this will help in the deploying of operating system image files which could be completed in a day with one or two with system administrators. In the deployment of the Windows server, a hybrid DHCP infrastructure will be used with different relay agents. This will help save on the expenditure as well as the administrators time. Further, there will be also the maintenance of the main as well as backup DHCP at the office as well as several relay agents at the branch office. This will undoubtedly free traffic from the WAN link that exists between them. In order to further prevent the excessive network traffic at each site, there is a need to implement an automatic allocation of IP addresses. There often exists a solid network layout that often has large subnets which allows each department to grow exponentially (Stanek, 2012). The fault tolerance that will be used for the DHCP network can be accomplished using a 80/20 configuration for the scope splitting. The Active directory The proper practice with domain controller often needs a minimum of two per active directory. There will be two domain controllers, each one per site. There should be the creation of a domain controller as well as backup for efficiency. There will also be placement of a Read only Domain Controller referred to as RODC at the branch site in order to free the WAN link from unnecessary traffic. The active directory that will be used will be integrated with zones that will in turn be used when it comes to application and replication of traffic. This replicated traffic will be processed through the active directory. Further, it is imperative that the domain controllers have what can be described as a universal scope. The parent domain will be reconfigured for the main site while each site will respectively have the local domain names. The departments in the mean time will have been able to be establishing organizational units that will contain all employees at different sites. The organizational units that will be used are as follows: Executive, Accounting, Finance, Production, IT, computers and Users. The group scope for the OU can be described as global because it will encompass employees that exist in different locations. It is imperative to understand that the NTFS as well as the share permissions will be configured in a way that will strictly prevent financial data from the different and diverse departments as compared to those that work directly on the data (Stanek, 2012). In fact, in the execution of this windows server, the head administrator will undoubtedly have full control and permission changes for the users in order to make changes by cases that he or she sees fit. The active directory schema can be accomplished by one administrator and can be said to take around hour only at most to complete. Storage can be described as very important for any organization and for this reason; there will be a need for it to denote spaces in a bid to hold large files. During the installation of the Windows server, there will be the installation of file servers that will have enough as well as ample storage that will be enough in keeping the business running efficiently and effectively. The preliminary estimate for the working storage is around 15Tb which can be said to be total between two sites (Ben-Gan, 2012). Disk management snap will be especially useful in this process. It is imperative to understand that all drives that exist in the network will be configured GPT and NTFS partition style in order to improve integrity. All the local drives will have dynamic disks as well as simple volumes. The bulk storage will be easily configured in a storage area network (SAN) at a site. The data from the main site will be transmitted to the bulk storage in the (SAN). The RAID 5 will be easily implementable on the drives; this is because they can tolerate a loss of anoyne to the different drives. The storage infrastructure that will be used is iSCSI technology; the initiators as well as the target should be put in place. The hardware versions of the iSCI initiators as well as targets should be the ones that are put into good use. This is mainly because of the fact that the hardware versions do not take up the system resources such as the software based initiators as well as targets. The internet storage name service that is provided by the Windows Server 2012 can be said to be the other step that exists for the targets as well as initiators in order to locate one another. The storage manager as well as the storage explorer will be useful in enabling a setup for the different SAN servers. The fault tolerance can be described as paramount, this therefore, means that a so fail over cluster for the SAN network will be used for the different and diverse data in the organization. In order for this fete to be achieved, two enterprise version servers, as well as three NIC cards per server will be needed. It is also of importance to understand that the add features will be able to simplify the process and consequently allow testing afterward. The storage and backup solution should be up and running in one hour or two and this can be achieved by one system administrator. Applications The applications used will be server based and all of them will be available through the terminal services architecture. This will be completed through Microsoft systems management services (SMS). The remote desktop services often has many advantages over the Group policy deployment. They include low band width consumption, reduced client hardware requirements, the conservation of licenses. In the remote application manager, one should run and install the .msi files for each and every application and then add different options to the remote app wizard. The application should be distributed by the Web access because of the intranet use and especially because of its use in different ports (Shinder, 2013). Therefore, from different offices, clients will be able to click on their explorer on their workstations and and they will be able to have the access needed. It is imperative to understand that for the Web access to work, properly, the IIS 7.0 component should be installed. The client machines should be equipped with RDC 6.0 with the ActiveX control and this is because they have the Vista OS service Pack 1. There will be different applications that will be available for the clients to leverage through web access; they include SharePoint, word, PowerPoint, Excel as well as outlook. It is imperative to understand that there is a need for the applications to have volume licenses this is in a bid to avoid legal issues. An internet facing web site will also be possible through the use of SharePoint 2012. The content will be written in XHTML as well as CSS in order to comply with the general standards. In conclusion, there is a need to have a reliable server implementation. This is because this is vital to the success of a business. The server network should be able to decrease unnecessary traffic, improve productivity, and increase availability. The infrastructure servers are often important to an organization and this is the same case with application servers (Shinder, 2013). The Active directory schema can be said to manage security resources as well as help in the distribution of the group policy to the users. The ample storage as well as the logical collaborative file system will be important as it will help increase efficiency, this is because the users will not have to search for a lot of space for their files.
