Institute Fitt’s Law PART HANDEDNESS: a) For the demonstration that people have different routine rates in using computer mouse by left and right hands, I examined 40 trials for each hand. I got the following difference: IPL (left hand IP) = 4 IPR (right hand IP) = 6.8 It is a rather substantial, however, explainable difference because of the amount of time spent at the computer, using mouse with the right hand. b) Further and extensive experiment was performed to a level of about 100 trials to determine how long-term load could affect the result after which the following results were obtained which was much expected to be that way. IPL = 5.2; IPR = 7.2 c) To conclude, in order to assess the degree of imbalance in between the left hand and the right, the handedness measurement should be done using a specific formula below: (IPR - IPL) / Min (IPR - IPL). The obtained result was as follows: (7.2 -5.2)/ (7 - 5) = 2/ 2.8 = 0.7143 The results were moderately comparable. For situations when left hand is desirable, the case was totally different. Typically, the discrepancy of left-handers between hands’ performance is less than in case of the right-handers. This was due to the section of the brain that is accountable for actions are more advanced in case of the left-handers (MacKenzie, I. Scott, and William Buxton). Therefore they have ability to use their both hand with better performance that the right handers. PART 2: INDIVIDUAL VARIATION: d) The questionnaire below was designed and used to measure variation of individuals using 10 diverse people: No Factors Response 1 Duration of experience with the use of mouse in computers ………Years 2 Age Brackets 5 – 15 16 – 25 26 – 35 Above 40 3 Sex / Gender Male Female 4 Preferred Hand Left Right 5 IP e) The results were as follows: No Factor P1 P2 P3 P4 P5 P6 P7 P8 P9 P10 1 Duration of experience with the use of mouse in computers. 10 5 2 3 1 15 4 7 5 8 2 Hours taken while using Computer in a week. 6 8 10 4 8 10 28 14 28 30 3 Age Bracket 40+ 26-35 26-35 40+ 16-25 26-35 16-25 26-35 26-35 5 -15 4 Gender / Sex M M M M F F M M F M 5 Preferred Hand R R L R L R L R R L 6 IP 7.7 8 8.2 6.8 8.6 8.8 8.1 7 9 7.5 The results on the table indicate that 10 individuals were interviewed. f) From the obvious expectation, the most associated factors with IP were age, preferred hand, and hours per week using computers. IP is directly linked to physical growth of specific muscles, muscular memory, and the frequency of operations per day, using mouse (MacKenzie, I. Scott, and William Buxton). The following results were obtained: No Age IP P1 IP P2 IP P3 IP P4 IP P5 IP P6 IP P7 IP P8 IP P9 IP P10 1 5 - 15 8.6 7.5 2 16 - 25 8.6 8.1 3 26 - 35 8 8.2 7 9 4 Above 40 7.7 6.8 From the above analyzed results, it is possible to note that younger individuals in terms of age have better IP, which therefore decreases with age.
