Configuring Cain and Abel to launch the attack

You should launch Cain and Abel and click on the sniffer tab. On the menu that appears select configure. The configuration dialog box then appears.

The user then selects the adapter associated with their IP address (in this case 192.168.1.100)

Select the host tab in the bottom panel and then click the blue cross at the top to launch the MAC address Scanner.

The right side of the tool contains the IP addresses of other hosts.

The user chooses among these hosts their desired victim(s). On clicking the OK button Cain poisons the selected hosts. This connection has now been poisoned and the attacker can obtain the information sent by the victim. When the victim opens their browser to type the router address the attacker simply clicks the password tab to see the victim's password.
