In some situations, the rule of privacy can be infringed in the case of national security. There are some situations where a government can access the personal information of certain people if it suspects them to be involved in illegal or terrorist activities (ACM, 1). Another situation that can be an exception in the code of ethics can be the case of intellectual property. A lot of software that has been patented and is not of use to people can sometimes be made available to them when the function necessitates it to be distributed to all and not monopolized by one individual.
