Impact of Ubiquitous Sensors Impact of Ubiquitous Sensors Ubiquitous Sensor Network (USN) Ubiquitous sensor network is a conceptual network built over existing physical networks, which make use of sensed information. It also offers knowledge to everyone, anywhere and at any time. The context awareness helps in data generation. Ubiquity anywhere is very practical in a case of a modern office where if the person wants to enter a modern office building, the glass door of the office will open automatically. In a case where USN is under consideration to offer services everywhere, it applies to both civilians and the military fields. It includes environmental and inhabit monitoring, healthcare, home automation and intelligent transport system. Internet of Things (IoT) Minoli (2013, p. 1) stated that internet of things is the concept of computing that allows networks connectivity that supports sending and receiving of data. Among the key features of the IoT is the growth in cloud computing. Improved connectivity of machines and devices is a feature of IoT. The connection of the internet to the objects enables one to identify the very objects through other devices that can link to the internet. Internet of Things (IoT) has three important functions. The first importance of Internet of Things is that an object can represent itself digitally and become something greater than its normal size. The second significance of the Internet of things is that it makes objects to an individual connect to the surrounding objects. In addition, it steers database date away from being it making the object relate to the individual personally. Research by Tirrenia International Workshop and Giusto (2010, p. 1) reveals that one of the applications of sensor in Internet of things is on the use of Radius Frequency Identification (RFID).With the use of RFID, small electronic devices consisting of a small chip and an antenna. The chip can hold up to 2,000 bytes or even less. RFID devices also serve similar functions to the bar codes or the magnetic strips on the back of a credit card or even ATM card. RFID makes it provide the user with a unique identifier for the object. It, therefore, implies that wireless sensor is a companion of RFID. That is particularly in the view of deploying common Internet of things infrastructures of Radius Frequency Identification (RFID). Another instance of Internet of Things is the use of Near Field Communication (NFC). NFC is a short range of wireless technologies requiring a distance of 4 centimeters or less than that in order to initiate the connection. NFC, therefore, gives a chance to have a small payload of data between an NFC tag and an Android power device or even between two Android-powered devices. Application of sensors in Internet of things has for some time-involved objects such as phones, tags, computers, tags or posters to exchange information wirelessly over a small distance (Minoli, 2013). I published a paper on sensors in the IoT. In the paper, I outlined a comparative analysis of twelve sensors that are applicable in the IoT. The comparison aids in determining the most suitable sensor for use in IoT. Based on the findings of the paper, RFID and NFC proved optional for IoT. Big data is essential for analysis of data from sensors. Impact of Ubiquitous Sensors on Business Most of the businesses have currently endorsed the use of ubiquitous in the business. The technology has had a major impact on business process in several business institutions. In business, the technology helps in the identification and localization. Moreover, the sensor technology provides a way to have answers to the questions as the location of a given product. The next question is what the current state of a product is and even what products are in its neighborhoods. Technology checks if a drug has reached its expiration date. It is also applicable to remind the patient to take pills (MüHlhäUser & Gurevych, 2008). Impact of Ubiquitous Sensors in Medicine There are different sensor types including thermal, acoustic, visual, infrared, magnetic, and seismic or radar. The sensors help in the monitoring of conditions such as temperature, humidity, presence, or absence of objects and pressure. Ubiquitous has enabled medics to be able to solve problems like identification of bullets dislodged into the body, measuring of temperature and pressure. The conditions are key as far as attending to a patient is a concern (MüHlhäUser & Gurevych, 2008). Impact of Ubiquitous Sensor on Privacy and Security Ubiquitous has brought in a new aspect of quality and quantity. There is the existence of more products than computer where data exchange refers to physical products. Due to reduced level of privacy, most of the security topics aim to try to secure communication links concerning confidentiality, integrity, and authenticity. It is evident that the introduction of ubiquitous sensor has compromised the level of privacy and security as far as storage and communication of information is concerned (MüHlhäUser & Gurevych, 2008). Use of Informatics in Analysis of Collected Data Informatics is the art and science of computing information system. In the analysis of collected data using informatics, there is use of a combination of descriptive statistics and graphs and some non-parametric inferential statistics. During the analysis of the data, the questionnaires get checked if they relate to the data file. The data is translated from the questionnaire to a file in the computer. When entering the data in a computer file is important to consider the following, every respondent should first be prepared from a row in the data sheet. Secondly, every question should take only one column that only includes one variable. Next, the responses are then stored as numbers for instance 1 to 5 for Lickert scales, and the value labels then should ascribe text labels to the numbers. Fourth, in cases where ranking or ordering has been in use, then every option will have to take up a variable. The case is also similar in situations where the respondents are asked to tick all that apply. Finally, in a case of SPSS data, each entry should take up one row in the data sheet. For instance, in a case where there are 5000 entries in a file for four-year students at Oxford University, so in the file there have to be 5000 rows. Depending upon the view of the file, in case where there is the need for the list of words or numbers then one can toggle between the two views. In the process, one chooses by value labels from the view menu (Pallant, 2007).
