Introduction Communication is the tool to transfer and share thoughts, ideas and views. It helps in expressing the emotions, sentiments and feelings of a person. There are many factors that affect the communication process between people and groups. These factors involve the attentiveness of people, cultural diversity among them, age differences, gender distribution, personal skills including listening and comprehension skills, personal feelings and point of views etc.
The difference between normal communication and workplace communication is that normal communication can take place anywhere between two or more individuals whereas workplace communication is the communication that takes place in any specific workplace environment.
Communication can take place with or without words. In today’s world, mass communication especially is of great importance as the media revolves around it. Mass communication is a powerful concept and here the communicator is generally an unknown organization or person.
Similarly one form of communication in our daily lives is the nonverbal communication which explains the procedure of passing on some knowledge or information without using words as a medium. As the study of a famous psychologist, Albert Mehrabian suggests that majority of our communication is non verbal which includes proxemics, chronemics, haptics, body language, gestures, facial expression, postures and eye contact.
Communication forms a critical part of this interaction process which enables information to b channeled to the right recipients. A healthcare development of a strategy might include a case for alteration, new service, or the improvement of an existing service which results to the development of major changes in the organization.
Based on the typical communication process model (Robbins & Judge, 2009) communication is a two-way process involving sender and receiver. There is input and output of message in this process, which makes communication to require channel and feedback. However, along the communication process, there are some possible noises that could interfere effective conveying of the message from the source to the receiver.
It creates the basis on which the stakeholders of the firm derive a sense of belonging in line with the organizational goals.
