Teacher First Part The reading was about photojournalism and in particular, about the circumstances surrounding a certain photographthat transforms a picture to a story. Photographs have the unique ability to represent external reality that authenticates evidence and identify truth and expose deception and it has been useful throughout history. The reading made sense but I do not think that it is abreast with the times. I particularly chose the portion in the reading that mentions its ability to authenticate evidence and identify truth and expose deception because it is no longer the case.

The advances in technology enable everyone who has simple knowledge in computer to tinker with images with simple application such as photoshop and Adobe Lightroom. Thus, photograph is no longer an agent of truth but rather can be used to deceive people. I think that the most relevant question now is what is the new role of photojournalism given that photography’s can no longer be taken at its face value knowing that it can be tampered.Second Part The news is about the advances of Isis, an Al-Qaida breakaway to Iraq’s western province.

It already has captured two strategic towns including Euphrates and Fallujah. At present, civilians are signing up to protect Baghdad from the Sunni militants. This this is important because it shows the growing terrorism in Isis which are now emboldened to even capture cities and countries. Also, it adds conflict to the Middle East and looks like a sectarian bloodshed is looming.
