The principle of informed consent states that children should be made aware of all the conditions and procedures that they will encounter throughout the research. The child should be provided with the freedom to decide if he/she wants to join or not and the researchers should respect the decision of the child.
Non-maleficence states that the procedures should not, in any way, place the child in danger or great harm while doing the research. The psychologist should seek other safer means of doing a procedure if it entails evoking stress from the subject. The psychologist may also ask for more knowledge or assistance from other specialists if they believe that there is a potential danger in one of the steps included in the research.
